A radio frequency (rf) compensation design using auxiliary double probes connected in parallel with a main measurement probe was developed for Langmuir probe diagnostics. This probe structure can reduce the sheath impedance of the main probe. In our probe design, the sheath capacitance of the probe can be increased and its sheath resistance can be decreased with increasing dc bias differential voltage between the auxiliary double probes. The I-V characteristic curve and electron energy distribution functions measured by our probe system had sufficient rf compensation performance in inductively coupled plasmas.

Background/aim: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is often complicated by sarcopenia, a condition of reduced muscle mass and function that adversely affects quality of life, lung function, and exacerbation rates. Ultrasonography could be an effective tool for detecting sarcopenia, notably by assessing diaphragmatic function, which may indicate muscle health in COPD patients. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of diaphragmatic ultrasound in detecting sarcopenia among COPD patients.

DICCR: Double-gated intervention and confounder causal reasoning for vision-language navigation.

Vision-language navigation (VLN) is a challenging task that requires agents to capture the correlation between different modalities from redundant information according to instructions, and then make sequential decisions on visual scenes and text instructions in the action space. Recent research has focused on extracting visual features and enhancing text knowledge, ignoring the potential bias in multi-modal data and the problem of spurious correlations between vision and text. Therefore, this paper studies the relationship structure between multi-modal data from the perspective of causality and weakens the potential correlation between different modalities through cross-modal causality reasoning.

As freshwater lakes undergo rapid anthropogenic change, long-term studies reveal key microbial dynamics, evolutionary shifts and biogeochemical interactions, yet the vital role of viruses remains overlooked. Here, leveraging a 20 year time series from Lake Mendota, WI, USA, we characterized 1.3 million viral genomes across time, seasonality and environmental factors.

In this work, a new dual-signal fluorescence strategy based on nano-gold molecular beacon (MB) and in-situ generated silver nano-clusters (NCs) coupled with multiple amplification technique was developed for sensitive detection of miRNA (let-7b). miRNA can recognize both hairpin probe (HP) and auxiliary DNA, inducing dual-cycle amplification-process to release plenty of DNA S2. As the report probe carboxyfluorescein (FAM) was modified on Au nanoparticles (AuNPs), the fluorescent signal was quenched due to the fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET).

Background: The Resection and Partial Liver Transplantation with Delayed Total Hepatectomy (RAPID) procedure for unresectable colorectal liver metastases (uCRLM) has renewed interest by increasing, in selected cases, patients' long-term survival. Initially described using deceased donor graft, this technique evolved to living donors, tackling organ-shortage issues, allowing better scheduling, and reducing liver failure risk.

Methods: A 50-year-old patient presented 18 months earlier with a colic adenocarcinoma with synchronous uCRLM.
