The equilibrium structure, stability, and electronic properties of the Al(13)X (X=H,Au,Li,Na,K,Rb,Cs) clusters have been studied using a combination of photoelectron spectroscopy experiment and density functional theory. All these clusters constitute 40 electron systems with 39 electrons contributed by the 13 Al atoms and 1 electron contributed by each of the X (X=H,Au,Li,Na,K,Rb,Cs) atom. A systematic study allows us to investigate whether all electrons contributed by the X atoms are alike and whether the structure, stability, and properties of all the magic clusters are similar. Furthermore, quantitative agreement between the calculated and the measured electron affinities and vertical detachment energies enable us to identify the ground state geometries of these clusters both in neutral and anionic configurations.

Emotions are associated with subjective emotion-specific bodily sensations. Here, we utilized this relationship and computational linguistic methods to map a representation of emotions in ancient texts. We analyzed Neo-Assyrian texts from 934-612 BCE to discern consistent relationships between linguistic expressions related to both emotions and bodily sensations.

Icosahedral gold clusters with high-symmetry geometry and magic electronic shells are potential candidates for cluster-assembling, while their assembling rules are still awaiting further investigation. In this work, we use the all-metal icosahedral M@Au as a building block to assemble a series of bi-, tri-, tetra-, and penta-superatomic molecules with diverse superatomic bonding patterns via face-fusion, aiming to systemically explore the bonding rule of superatoms. Chemical bonding analyses indicate that these bi-, tri-, tetra-, and penta-superatomic molecules [M@Au] (M = Re, W, Ta, Ti, Hf, Ir, and Pt) can be considered electronic analogues to Cl, O, N, CO, O, CO, NCl, and CF molecules with single, double, triple, and multicenter bonds, respectively.

Due to the logistical and financial challenges in studying migratory marine species, there is relatively limited knowledge of the reproductive biology, behavior, and habitat use of many ecologically important marine megafauna species, including the Atlantic tarpon Megalops atlanticus. Here, we present a novel observation using consumer-grade aerial drones to observe, quantify the scale of, and classify behaviors within a previously unreported tarpon aggregation (N = 182) over the course of a 2-day fish aggregation event. After the event, we analysed and compared observed behaviors (e.

Spin relaxation of charge carriers in strongly quantum confined perovskite magic-sized clusters has been probed, for the first time, by using polarization-controlled femtosecond transient absorption (fs-TA) spectroscopy. Fs-TA measurements with a circularly polarized pump and probe allowed for the determination of the exciton spin relaxation lifetime (∼1.5 ps) at room temperature based on the dynamics of a photoinduced absorption (PIA) feature peaked at 458 nm.
