Aims: Authors investigated the psychiatric symptoms and behaviour dimensions of people in residential care of institutions in Tolna county (South-West Hungary, Trans-Danubian region) aimed at screening the frequency of the relevant affective and behavioural symptoms associated with intellectual disability and their dependency on the level of intellectual impairment.
Methods: On the basis of HAWIK test, Hungarian standard version, 4 groups were created: subnormal, mild, moderate and profound MR subgroups. The Hungarian standard of Derogatis' Symptom Distress Checklist (SCL-90) and the validated Behaviour Problem Profile (BPI by Rojahn et al) were used.
Results: Towards the more profound categories, the self-injurious and stereotype behaviour are increasing, while the aggressive behaviour is most characteristic in the moderately intellectually disabled group.Concerning stereotype behaviour, both frequency and seriousness dominated in the more serious group. Although psychiatric symptoms decrease depending on the level of intellectual impairment, in 5 out of 9 dimensions, the mild intellecually impaired group has the leading role. These symptoms dimensions are: interpersonal difficulties, depression, phobic, paranoid and psychotic symptoms.
Conclusion: Authors focus on the paramount psychiatric risks of mild intellectually disabled group (old term "debility") and emphasize the detection and treatment of the psychiatric problems.

This article identifies and offers a response to several problems that affect the quality of both clinical education and health care services. These matters are: that in clinical training and practice, health, as lived by patients (persons), is not properly considered, and is equated reductively with treating diseases/disorders; that health is seen through disease, and as restricted to a single model defined by an organism's meeting (or being returned to) biochemical or functional standards; that intellectual assumptions instilled in schools of Medicine and Psychology about realities pertaining to healthcare determine an understanding of chronic illness or life with chronic challenges focused on impairment and suffering, and not on the fuller experience of living with illness, disability or neuropsychological challenges that patients have as persons; that arts-based education reflects the same focus in understanding 'illness', and thus neglects giving attention to the creation of personal health states of those living with challenging or debilitating long-term conditions; that, consequently, the arts are instrumentalized to serve these predefined educational purposes, rather than allowed to inform clinical training through that which is intrinsic or more specific to them. As a way out of these limitations and as an illustration of how things could be done differently, Vincent Van Gogh's paintings of the Sunflowers are used as visual inspiration for how we could change the way we see, and construct new mental representations of 'health', 'chronic illness' or 'chronic challenges', 'patient as person' or even 'person as non-patient', 'the clinician's role' and 'the identity of clinical practice'.

Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC) is a debilitating developmental disorder characterized by a variety of clinical manifestations. While benign tumors in the heart, lungs, kidney, and brain are all hallmarks of the disease, the most severe symptoms of TSC are often neurological, including seizures, autism, psychiatric disorders, and intellectual disabilities. Background: This study describes the proportion of Ontario adults with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) who used community- and hospital-based healthcare in the first 2 years of the pandemic compared with the year pre-COVID-19.
Methods: Linked health administrative databases identified 87 341 adults with IDD and also adults without IDD living in Ontario, Canada. For each cohort, counts and proportions of adults who used different types of healthcare services were reported for the pre-COVID-19 year (16 March 2019 to 14 March 2020) and the first two COVID-19 years (15 March 2020 to 14 March 2021 and 15 March 2021 to 14 March 2022).
