Purpose: To report the spectral domain (SD) findings in a retinal fold secondary to vitrectomy surgery.
Methods: A 57-year-old man presented 1 month after vitrectomy surgery with gas injection (C₃F₈ 6%) in his left eye for treatment of a macula-on retinal detachment and was noted to have a retinal fold in the superior aspect of the macula. Complete ocular examination, fundus photography, fluorescein angiography, autofluorescence, and SD optical coherence tomography (OCT) were performed.
Results: Spectral domain OCT revealed a slightly hyperreflective lesion in the outer retina, which occupied a discontinuity in the inner segment outer segment junction and extended superiorly with apparent indentation of the overlying retinal layers.
Conclusions: This case illustrates how SD OCT may be useful in describing the morphologic substrate of retinal fold after retinal surgery.

Purpose: Geographic atrophy (GA), an advanced form of dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD), has limited treatment options. This study introduces a novel mouse model featuring an expanding GA patch that can be used to test mechanisms and therapeutics.
Methods: C57Bl/6J male mice (n = 96) aged 9-10 weeks received an intraperitoneal (IP) injection of 20 mg/kg sodium iodate (NaIO3).

Purpose: To evaluate prevalence and incidence rates of pigmentary maculopathy and retinopathy (PM/PR), and visual acuity (VA) changes in patients exposed to pentosan polysulfate sodium (PPS) and in patients with interstitial cystitis (IC) not exposed to PPS.
Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study (January 2015-March 2021) which included adult de-identified patients from the American Academy of Ophthalmology IRIS® Registry (Intelligent Research in Sight) and Komodo Health database. Three patient cohorts were identified: two PPS-exposed patient cohorts, and Non-PPS-exposed IC patient cohort.

Purpose: To investigate whether wide-angle fluorescein angiography (FA) was useful for detecting familial exudative retinopathy (FEVR) in patients with neurodevelopmental disorder with spastic diplegia and visual defects (NEDSDV).
Methods: This was a retrospective chart review from 2013 to 2023 of all consecutive patients with NEDSDV and pathogenic or likely pathogenic variants.
Results: Seven patients (four females, three males) were seen in the ophthalmology clinic (median age: 14 months).

Several strategies have been developed in recent years to improve virus-like particle (VLP)-based vaccine production processes. Among these, the metabolic engineering of cell lines has been one of the most promising approaches. Based on previous work and a proteomic analysis of HEK293 cells producing Human Immunodeficiency Virus-1 (HIV-1) Gag VLPs under transient transfection, four proteins susceptible of enhancing VLP production were identified: ataxia telangiectasia mutated (ATM), ataxia telangiectasia and rad3-related (ATR), DNA-dependent protein kinase catalytic subunit (DNA-PKcs), and retinal rod rhodopsin-sensitive cGMP 3',5'-cyclic phosphodiesterase subunit delta (PDEδ).

Purpose: Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is an inflammatory cytokine implicated in various retinal pathologies and functions primarily through two signaling pathways: cis-signaling via IL-6 binding to its membrane-bound receptor (IL-6Rα), and trans-signaling via IL-6 binding to soluble IL-6 receptor (sIL-6R). Because the differential effects of IL-6 signaling in retinal Müller glial cells (MGCs) remain unclear, we generated an MGC-specific Il6ra-/- knockout (KO) mouse to eliminate IL-6Rα and, consequently, IL-6 cis-signaling in MGCs. In this study, we examined the proteomic changes in MGCs isolated from KO mice lacking a functional IL-6Rα.
