We report the first observation of multiple intercommutation (more than two successive reconnections) of Abelian Higgs cosmic strings at ultrahigh collision speeds, and the formation of "kink trains" with up to four closely spaced left- or right-moving kinks, in the deep type-II regime 16 ≤ β ≤ 64 (where β=m(scalar)2/m(gauge)2). The minimum critical speed for double reconnection goes down from ∼0.98c at β = 1 to ∼0.86c for β = 64. The process leading to the second intercommutation changes with β: it involves an expanding loop if β ≥ 16, but only a radiation blob if 1 < β ≤ 8. Triple reconnections are generic in the loop-mediated regime for collision parameters on the boundary between single and double reconnection. For β = 16 we observe quadruple events. We comment on the effect of strongly repulsive core interactions on the small scale structure on the strings and their gravitational wave emission.

Background: The pentaspline pulsed field ablation catheter achieves pulmonary vein isolation using 8 stacked, pose-specific applications with rotation. The morphology of pose-specific, single or double applications has not been described.
Methods: One or 2 applications were delivered to select veins and discrete atrial and ventricular sites in 9 swine.

Background: In recent years, both meditation and psychedelics have attracted rapidly increasing scientific interest. While the current state of evidence suggests the promising potential of psychedelics, such as psilocybin, to enhance meditative training, it remains equivocal whether these effects are specifically bound to psilocybin or if other classical psychedelics might show synergistic effects with meditation practice. One particularly promising candidate is -dimethyltryptamine (DMT), an active ingredient of ayahuasca.

Rivers not only function as a conduit for the delivery of terrestrial constituents to oceans, but they also serve as an essential medium for biogeochemical processing of the constituents. While extensive research has been conducted on carbon transport in many rivers, little is known about carbon transformation in engineered rivers reconnected with their floodplain network. Being the largest distributary of the levee-confined Mississippi River (MR), the Atchafalaya River (AR) carries 25 % of the MR water, flowing through North America's largest freshwater swamp basin and emptying into the Gulf of Mexico.

Background: Remote monitoring (RM) of cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) patients is now considered standard of care. However, a fundamental requirement of RM is continuous connectivity between the patient's implanted device and the CIED manufacturer's central server. This study examined the rate of RM disconnections in CIED recipients and the impact of short message service (SMS) to facilitate reconnections.
