The possibility of contaminating the breathing air zone with hazardous substances in manual and semi-automated welding increases with the intensity of their formation in the arc zone. This necessitates more comprehensive data on both the specific excreta and the formation intensity of the most hazardous substances, such as hard and gaseous compounds of welding aerosols, with due account of the welding regimen used and electrode diameter, wires, etc. When calculating the effectiveness of both local and general ventilation systems in welding shops, a possibility of a specific one-way hazardous action of some chemical substances (e.g. chromium, fluorine, etc.) should be taken into account.

Perfluoroalkyl and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) release from textiles is a source of human exposure, but the mechanisms behind this release remain insufficiently studied. This research investigates the release and transport mechanisms of PFAS in outdoor jacket fabrics treated with a short side-chain fluorinated polymers (CF-SFPs) for durable water repellency (DWR). PA-based and PET-based fabrics were exposed to outdoor conditions and subjected to accelerated aging, followed by abrasion, washing, and drying experiments to simulate wear and degradation.

Emerging organic contaminants (EOCs) are a growing concern for aquatic ecosystems, underscoring the need for advanced risk assessment methodologies. This study employed an integrated approach to evaluate the risks associated with 563 EOCs across 13 monitoring sites along the Sava River in Croatia. Sampling was conducted during the winter and spring months, spanning February to May.

New psychoactive substances (NPS) are health-hazardous through unpredictable toxicity and effects and largely unknown epidemiology, motivating studies of the latter. Up to 138 NPS were retrospectively identified using liquid chromatography-high resolution mass spectrometry data from all 34 183 oral fluid drug samples collected in one Swedish health care region 2019-2020 representing 9468 psychiatric and addiction care patients. In total, 618 findings representing 58 NPS were detected in 481 samples from 201 patients.

The timeless tale of Snow White, with its emphasis on fair skin as a beauty ideal, mirrors a contemporary issue in nephrology: the harmful impact of skin-whitening creams on kidney health. Fairness creams have deeply embedded themselves in global society, driven by a pervasive obsession with lighter skin tones as a symbol of beauty. This widespread use reflects deeply rooted cultural beliefs and social norms, despite the significant health risks associated with these products.

An innovative core-shell covalent organic framework (COF), FeO@COF (ETTBA-ND), was synthesized through a facile and energy-efficient method. This adsorbent facilitated magnetic solid phase extraction (MSPE) of six AFs prior to LC-MS/MS analysis, achieving one-step purification and enrichment in food matrices. The successful synthesis of the adsorbent was confirmed using various techniques, with adsorption capacities ranging from 46.
