Synchronous malignant neoplasms in a single patient are well documented in the literature. It is also recognized that there is increasing incidence of synchronous non-neuroendocrine neoplasm in patients with neuroendocrine tumor (NET). We present a case, of a patient with synchronous colorectal cancer and pancreatic NET, both cancers presenting with liver metastasis. By using 18F-FDG PET and 68Ga-DOTATATE PET imaging, we showed 2 different tumor types within the liver, which was subsequently confirmed on liver biopsy. This case report shows the utility of molecular imaging using different PET peptides. These newer modalities are useful in understanding the biology of the NET and in determining the best patient management.

In the era of molecular testing, thyroid nodules with indeterminate cytology are increasingly being managed nonoperatively. The false-negative rates of these molecular tests, and therefore missed malignancies, are not well defined in real-world clinical practice. This retrospective study of patients undergoing fine needle aspiration (FNA) biopsy at our health system between November 2017 and March 2022 included nodules with The Bethesda System for Reporting Thyroid Cytopathology (TBSRTC) III and IV cytology and negative, currently negative, or negative but limited ThyroSeq version 3 (TSv3) results.

The emergence of spinon quasiparticles, which carry spin but lack charge, is a hallmark of collective quantum phenomena in low-dimensional quantum spin systems. While the existence of spinons has been demonstrated through scattering spectroscopy in ensemble samples, real-space imaging of these quasiparticles within individual spin chains has remained elusive. In this study, we construct individual Heisenberg antiferromagnetic spin-1/2 chains using open-shell [2]triangulene molecules as building blocks.

ConspectusIons are the crucial signaling components for living organisms. In cells, their transportation across pore-forming membrane proteins is vital for regulating physiological functions, such as generating ionic current signals in response to target molecule recognition. This ion transport is affected by confined interactions and local environments within the protein pore.

Theranostics has its roots with the first radioiodine therapy for thyroid diseases in about 80 years ago. More recently the field has experienced a remarkable renascence with the regulatory approval of paired imaging and radiopharmaceutical therapy agents in gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors and metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer that are now employed in routine clinical practice. The momentum is strong for identification and testing of new theranostic agents for use in various cancers and finding new clinical incications of the available agents.
