Appropriateness of care, applied to medical prescription, is a fast-growing professional practice evaluation method, within a context of control spending and quality improvement. A literature review related to the last ten years found 38 publications, including 19 original studies. Results showed that only few studies were published, and that methodologies were not standardized. Development of pedagogical data tools is essential to increase doctor's awareness. Analysis of causes of inappropriateness has to be conducted, in order to plan improvement actions. A second evaluation is necessary to assess the impact of appropriateness review on professional practices.

Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) is a mosquito-borne alphavirus that is primarily known for causing severe joint and muscle symptoms, but its pathological effects have extended beyond these tissues. In this study, we conducted a comprehensive proteomic analysis across various organs in rodent and nonhuman primate models to investigate CHIKV's impact on organs beyond joints and muscles and to identify key host factors involved in its pathogenesis. Our findings reveal significant species-specific similarities and differences in immune responses and metabolic regulation, with proteins like Interferon-Stimulated Gene 15 (ISG15) and Retinoic Acid-Inducible Gene I (RIG-I) playing crucial roles in the anti-CHIKV defense.

Background: Patients with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) have high rates of gastrointestinal bleeding due to several risk factors including platelet dysfunction, comorbid illness, and use of antiplatelet medications. Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) reduce gastrointestinal bleeding and are recommended for high-risk patients such as those prescribed dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT). Whether inappropriate duration of DAPT therapy and/or lack of appropriate PPI use contribute to the known elevated risk of gastrointestinal bleeding in hemodialysis patients is not known.
