Article Synopsis
  • Developing polymer materials that can revert to monomers on demand is essential for creating a sustainable society.
  • Traditional recycling methods are limited to polymers with weaker bonds, but integrating directing groups can enhance polymer resilience and recyclability.
  • The study demonstrates that phenylene ether-based polymers, designed for selective disassembly with nickel catalysts, remain stable in harsh conditions while being capable of decomposing into repolymerizable molecules.

Poly(aryl ether) materials are used in a wide range of applications in the communications and microelectronics fields for their outstanding mechanical and dielectric properties. In order to further improve the comprehensive performance, this work reports a series of cross-linkable poly(aryl ether)s (UCL-PAEn) containing trifluoroisopropyl and perfluorobiphenyl structures using 2,2-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)hexafluoropropane, 2,2'-diallyl bisphenol A, and perfluorobiphenyl as starting materials. Their chemical structures and the effect of changes in the allyl content on the properties are thoroughly investigated.

In this work, a proton-conductive inorganic filler based on polyoxovanadate (NH)[MnVO] (AMV) and 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl) imide (EMIM TFSI) was synthesized for hybridization with sulfonated poly(aryl ether ketone sulfone) (SPAEKS) to address the "trade-off" between high proton conductivity and mechanical strength. The novel inorganic filler AMV-EMIM TFSI (AI) was uniformly dispersed and stable within the polymer matrix due to the enhanced ionic interaction. AI provided additional proton transport sites, leading to an elevated ion exchange capacity (IEC) and improved proton conductivity, even at low swelling ratios.

Due to the specificity, high efficiency, and gentleness of enzyme catalysis, the industrial utilization of enzymes has attracted more and more attention. Immobilized enzymes can be recovered/recycled easily compared to their free forms. The primary benefit of immobilization is protection of the enzymes from harsh environmental conditions (e.

In this paper, we successfully synthesize phosphoric acid functionalized graphene oxide (PGO) based on acid modification of graphene oxide. The composite membrane is further prepared by adding PGO into sulfonated poly(aryl ether ketone sulfone) containing carboxyl groups matrix (C-SPAEKS). The PGO as well as the composite membranes were characterized by a series of tests.
