Objective: Response surface analysis methodology (RSM) was used to optimize the extraction technology of total flavonoids from Mulgedium tataricum.

Methods: Ethanol concentration, solvent-solid ratio, extraction temperature and extraction time were selected as influencing factors during extraction. The experiment mathematical model was arranged according to Box-Behnken central composite experiment design.

Results: The optimal extraction conditions were as following: ethanol concentration 63.78%, solvent-solid ratio 40: 1, extraction temperature 90 degrees C, and extraction time 1.07 h, the predicted value of extraction rate of total flavonoids was 14.04% under the optimum conditions, and the experimental value was 13.79%.

Conclusion: The combination of Box-Behnken design and response surface analysis can well optimize the extraction technology of total flavonoids from Mulgedium tataricum.

This study offers considerable information on plant wealth of therapeutic importance used traditionally by the residents of 11 villages under three subdivisions of Kurseong, Darjeeling Sadar, and Mirik in the Darjeeling District, West Bengal. For the acquisition of ethnomedicinal information, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 47 informants, of whom 11 persons were herbalists and 36 were knowledgeable persons. To investigate the effects of different light qualities on the growth, photosynthesis, transcriptome, and metabolome of mint, three treatments were designed: (1) 7R3B (70% red light and 30% blue light, CK); (2) 7R3B+ far-red light (FR); (3) 7R3B+ ultraviolet light A (UVA). The results showed that supplemental FR significantly promoted the growth and photosynthesis of mint, as evidenced by the increase in plant height, plant width, biomass, effective quantum yield of PSII photochemistry (F'/F'), maximal quantum yield of PSII (F/F), and performance index (PI). UVA and CK exhibited minimal differences.
