The catheter migration after ventriculoperitoneal shunt (VPS) for hydrocephalus is a very rare complication. It is caused by a disconnection or rupture of the catheter. Then, this one can be exteriorized through the anus or the mouth. We report here the case of catheter exteriorization after VPS through the peritoneovaginal duct diagnosed during the hydrocele surgical cure, two years after VPS insertion. The children with VPS require a regular clinical surveillance and a radiographic control of the hydrocephalus valve track, once per year.

Purpose: To evaluate the treatment outcomes of switching to intravitreal brolucizumab (IVBr) for neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) which did not achieve a dry macula even with 4- or 8-week intervals of intravitreal faricimab (IVF).

Study Design: Retrospective, interventional case series.

Methods: We retrospectively studied 33 eyes of 33 consecutive patients with nAMD who switched to IVBr from IVF, assessing best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), foveal thickness (FT), central choroidal thickness (CCT), and exudative status at baseline and after the switch.

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are heterogeneously sized, cell-derived nanoparticles operating as proficient mediators of intercellular communication. They are produced by normal as well as diseased cells and carry a variety of cargo. While the molecular details of EV biology have been worked out over the past two decades, one question that continues to intrigue many is how are EVs able to evade the phagocytic immune cells while also being effectively internalized by the target cell or tissue.

Macrophages are an integral part of the innate immune system and act as a first line of defense to pathogens; however, macrophages can be reservoirs for pathogens to hide and replicate. Tuberculosis, influenza virus, and severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) are common diseases whose pathogens are uptaken into macrophages. Current treatments for diseases such as these are limited by the therapeutic delivery method, which typically involves systemic delivery in large, frequent doses.
