Spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia congenita (SEDC) is an inherited disorder of bone growth that results in short-trunk dwarfism, skeletal abnormalities, disorders in vision and hearing, atlanto-axial instability, and cleft palate. This important anomaly of the cervical vertebrae carries the risk of tetraplegia during cleft palate operations. In this case report, we discuss a case of spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia congenita, the perioperative and postoperative measures, and the risk of tetraplegia.

2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) is an important environmental pollutant that disturbs the immune balance of the maternal-fetal interface (MFI) and is also a common environmental factor for the formation of cleft palate (CP). Therefore, the purpose is to investigate whether TCDD can cause CP by disrupting the immune balance of the maternal-fetal interface. Fifteen C57BL/6J mice were randomly assigned to three groups: control group, TCDD group, and TCDD plus Freund's complete adjuvant (FCA) (TCDD + FCA) group.

Cleft lip and palate anomalies constitute both aesthetic and functional impairments for affected individuals. While an individual with an unrepaired cleft palate may adjust somewhat to the associated feeding challenges as he or she gets older, the consequent speech impairment is amenable primarily to surgery. It is pertinent to assess how well speech function is restored in individuals with cleft after surgical repairs.

To explore the application of modified Von Langenbeck cleft palate repair with tension-free mucoperiosteal flap near the nasal cavity and without relaxation incision, and the cleft palate defect was repaired by covering both sides of the edge of the in situ mucoperiosteal flap. This treatment method provides a good aesthetic restoration effect. Modified Von Langenbeck cleft palate repair with mucoperiosteal flap near the nasal cavity without tension and relaxation incision was used to repair the cleft palate.
