Most research on stimulus preference and reinforcer assessment involves a preference assessment that is followed by a reinforcer assessment. Typically, the most and least preferred stimuli are tested as reinforcers. In the current study, we first quantified the reinforcing efficacies of six food items and then assessed relative preference for each item. Relative preference ranking and reinforcer efficacies showed almost perfect concordance for 1 participant and partial concordance for the other. Discordance tended to occur with the weakest reinforcers.

Student comprehension of biochemistry in a flipped classroom format.

Smart Learn Environ

December 2024

Department of Biochemistry, University of Nebraska - Lincoln, 1901 Vine St., Beadle N133, Lincoln, NE 68588 USA.

Unlabelled: Concept-heavy courses such as Biochemistry in life and physical science curricula are challenging for many college-aged students. It is easy for students to disengage in a lecture and not learn the subject matter while in class. To improve student learning participation, we employed a flipped format for the first half of the course and compared learning outcomes and attitudes with the traditional lecture in the second half of the course.

Reinforcement learning studies propose that decision-making is guided by a tradeoff between computationally cheaper model-free (habitual) control and costly model-based (goal-directed) control. Greater model-based control is typically used under highly rewarding conditions to minimize risk and maximize gain. Although prior studies have shown impairments in sensitivity to reward value in individuals with frequent alcohol use, it is unclear how these individuals arbitrate between model-free and model-based control based on the magnitude of reward incentives.

Background: Based on the PRECEDE-PROCEED (Predisposing, Reinforcing, and Enabling Causes in Educational Diagnosis and Evaluation-Policy, Regulatory, and Organizational Constructs in Educational and Environmental Development) model (PPM), we investigated the psychological status of the spouses of primiparous women to implement a health education program.

Methods: The study retrospectively analyzed 310 spouses of primigravid women who gave birth from March 2022 to March 2024. 154 spouses received regular education, and 156 spouses aslo received health education of PPM.

Cartel party theory has put the study of party-state relations high on the research agenda, deliberately shifting the focus of researchers away from an understanding of political parties on the basis of their relationship with civil society or, indeed, as part of civil society itself. As fruitful as this reorientation has been, this essay argues that the resulting emphasis on 'parties as governors' has produced downsides of its own. Cartel party theory reinforced a separation of the study of parties from the study of other membership organizations considered the very fabric of civil societies.

Particularly when they occur at high speeds, vehicle accidents represent a serious threat to human beings and due to this fact vehicle accident is considered as worlds high priority risk. Several research have been done to enhance the crashworthiness of bumper subsystems. With an emphasis on the major crash management system components which are also known as crash box and bumper beam, this study explores ways to improve the crashworthiness of vehicles.
