The small intestine bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) is a clinical disorder resulting from colonization of the small intestine by an excessive number of microorganisms or by unusual microorganisms. When they are methane producers it is called intestinal methanogen overgroth (IMO). Known risk factors are congenital or acquired anatomical alterations, motility alterations, some systemic and autoimmune diseases, those that cause alterations in biliopancreatic secretions, hypochlorhydria and some drugs.

Constipation is found in individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism, and cerebral palsy. Although generally a benign condition, it may lead to life-threatening intestinal obstruction, with or without volvulus, or to stercoral ulceration with enteritis and/or perforation. Two unusual cases of lethal chronic constipation are reported to demonstrate other very rare fatal mechanisms that may occur.

Deep or aggressive angiomyxoma is an uncommon neoplasm of the pelvis. Although deep angiomyxoma is a benign tumor, its tendency to infiltrate soft tissues and reach a large size (typically > 10 cm) indicates aggressive biological behavior.
