Background: Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is implicated as a necessary factor in the development of multiple sclerosis (MS) and may also be a driver of disease activity. Although it is not clear whether ongoing viral replication is the driver for MS pathology, MS researchers have considered the prospect of using drugs with potential efficacy against EBV in the treatment of MS. We have undertaken scientific and lived experience expert panel reviews to shortlist existing licensed therapies that could be used in later-stage clinical trials in MS.

Although many institutions increasingly perform endovascular coiling instead of microsurgical clipping as the primary treatment for ruptured aneurysms, there remains ongoing debate regarding the optimal treatment strategy for ruptured middle cerebral artery (MCA) aneurysms. Therefore, we compared the outcomes of clipping and coiling for treating ruptured MCA aneurysms. A total of 155 ruptured MCA aneurysms that were deemed eligible for both clipping and coiling were retrospectively reviewed.

Purpose: To assess the efficacy of bolus injections of landiolol hydrochloride as premedication in coronary artery CT angiography (CCTA).
Methods: The study population consisted of 37 patients (17 female; median age, 56 years; IQR, 19 years; range, 19-88 years) who underwent CCTA after intravenous injection of landiolol hydrochloride due to a heart rate > 60 bpm. Landiolol hydrochloride was administered in a stepwise manner until a heart rate of ≤ 60 bpm was achieved or a maximum dose of 60 mg was reached after six injections.

To evaluate the safety and efficacy of staged coiling followed by flow diverter (FD) in the treatment of ruptured intracranial aneurysms(RIAs). A retrospective analysis was conducted on 20 patients with RIAs treated with staged coiling followed by FD at a single center, between April 2015 and September 2024. Patient demographics, aneurysm characteristics, clinical and imaging outcomes were reviewed.

The underlying mechanisms explaining the differential course of SARS-CoV-2 infection and the potential clinical consequences after COVID-19 resolution have not been fully elucidated. As a dysregulated mitochondrial activity could impair the immune response, we explored long-lasting changes in mitochondrial functionality, circulating cytokine levels, and metabolomic profiles of infected individuals after symptoms resolution, to evaluate whether a complete recovery could be achieved. Results of this pilot study evidenced that different parameters of aerobic respiration in lymphocytes of individuals recuperated from a severe course lagged behind those shown upon mild COVID-19 recovery, in basal conditions and after simulated reinfection, and they also showed altered glycolytic capacity.
