The anatomic subtype of mitral stenosis, aortic atresia, and myocardial sinusoids is reported to be associated with increased mortality for staged repair for hypoplastic left heart syndrome. We herein report a very rare case of this subtype of hypoplastic left heart syndrome presenting with marked myocardial sinusoids in the left ventricle, which nearly disappeared after successful Fontan completion. Our successful experience suggests marked myocardial sinusoids per se are not a risk factor for surgical palliation in hypoplastic left heart syndrome.

Myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury increases myocardial microvascular permeability, leading to enhanced microvascular filtration and interstitial fluid accumulation that is associated with greater microvascular obstruction and inadequate myocardial perfusion. A burst of reactive oxygen species and inflammatory mediators during reperfusion causes myosin light chain kinase (MLCK)-dependent endothelial hyperpermeability, which is considered a preventable cause of reperfusion injury. In the present study, a single intravenous injection of MLCK peptide inhibitor PIK7 (2.

Objectives: Due to poor treatment adherence and lifestyle-based interventions, chronic hypertension is a dominant risk factor predisposing individuals to heart failure and malignant arrhythmias. We investigated the impact of the postnatal acclimation of hairless SHR to ambient temperature that is, for them, below thermoneutrality, on the electrical coupling protein connexin-43 (Cx43) and pro-fibrotic markers in both heart ventricles of male and female hairless SHR rats compared to the wild SHR.
Methods: Some 6-month-acclimated male and female hairless SHR as well as age- and sex-matched wild SHR were included and compared with the non-hypertensive Wistar strain.

Objective: To evaluate the representation and localization of FAP-positive activated stromal cells depending on the severity of fibrotic changes in tissues of patients with a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19.
Material And Methods: 20 autopsy observations of patients who died from COVID-19 were studied. Immunohistochemical studies were performed using antibodies to CD90, FAP and aSMA and a dual imaging system.

Stem cell-derived blood vessel organoids are embedded in extracellular matrices to stimulate vessel sprouting. Although vascular organoids in 3D collagen I-Matrigel gels are currently available, they are primarily capillaries composed of endothelial cells (ECs), pericytes, and mesenchymal stem-like cells, which necessitate mature arteriole differentiation for neovascularization. In this context, the hypothesis that matrix viscoelasticity regulates vascular development is investigated in 3D cultures by encapsulating blood vessel organoids within viscoelastic gelatin/β-CD assembly dynamic hydrogels or methacryloyl gelatin non-dynamic hydrogels.
