Gastrointestinal tract as one of the collagen organ systems, will inevitably become involved in the pathological process in connective tissue dysplasia. In order to optimize diagnosis and treatment tactics of practitioner choice needs to know the major gastrointestinal manifestations of connective tissue dysplasia and to distinguish between concepts: visceral manifestations of connective tissue dysplasia (syndromes of digestive diseases associated with connective tissue dysplasia), maldevelopments and diseases of the digestive system associated with connective tissue dysplasia. The authors have developed and presented a classification of major gastrointestinal syndromes in connective tissue dysplasia.

Fibromuscular dysplasia (FMD) is a non-atherosclerotic, non-inflammatory vascular disease of medium-sized arteries that causes abnormal cellular growth in arterial walls and most commonly affects young to middle-aged women (20-50 years of age). While FMD often involves the renal arteries, it can affect any arterial bed. FMD has a characteristic angiographic appearance of a "string of beads.

KDELR1, a constituent of the KDEL endoplasmic reticulum protein retention receptors family, is implicated in immune responses and cancers progression. In this study, we delineate the clinicopathological significance and oncogenic role of KDELR1 in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) through a comprehensive multi-omics approach. KDELR1 expression is correlated with tumor grade, tumor stage, lymph node metastasis, clinical stage and poor prognosis in HNSCC.

Background: Angiogenesis, the formation of new blood vessels from preexisting ones via capillary sprouting, is a crucial process in tumor growth and metastasis. As a tumor's angiogenic capacity increases, its microvasculature, measured by micro vessel density (MVD), also increases. This study aims to evaluate the expression of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) and CD34 in oral epithelial dysplasia and oral squamous cell carcinoma through immunohistochemical methods.

Caspase-4 Has Potential Utility as a Colorectal Tissue Biomarker for Dysplasia and Early-Stage Cancer.

Gastro Hep Adv

School of Biochemistry and Immunology, Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute, Trinity College Dublin, Dublin, Ireland.

Background And Aims: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the second most deadly cancer globally. The rapidly rising incidence rate of CRC, coupled with increased diagnoses in individuals <50 years, indicates that early detection of CRC, and those at an increased risk of CRC development, is paramount to improve the survival rates of these patients. Here, we profile caspase-4 expression across 2 distinct CRC development pathways, sporadic CRC (sCRC) and inflammatory bowel disease-associated CRC (IBD-CRC), to examine its utility as a novel biomarker for CRC risk and diagnosis.
