Carbon riveted Pt/C catalyst was designed and prepared by in situ carbonized glucose in this paper. Characterization results show that carbon riveted Pt/C prevents Pt nanoparticles from coalescence. Its stability is markedly enhanced due to the anchoring effect of the carbon layers formed during the carbon riveting process.

Hierarchical supramolecular frameworks are being designed and constructed for various applications, yet the controlled assembly and process understanding incorporating giant building blocks remains a great challenge. Here, we report a strategy of "rivet" substitution and "hinge" linkage for the controlled assembly of the hierarchical supramolecular framework. The replacement of two "rivet" ethylene glycol (EG) molecules for triangular prism [Zn] (a small block in 1) with a 1,3-propanediol (PDO) provides space for a "hinge" linkage from adjacent ligands, thus providing a hierarchical (from micro- to mesopores, from the internal cavity to external surface) supramolecular framework (2) based on a coordinative subblock with the record number of zinc ions ([Zn]).

The expandable graphite (EG) modified TiO nanocomposites were prepared by the high shear method using the TiO nanoparticles (NPs) and EG as precursors, in which the amount of EG doped in TiO was 10 wt.%. Followed by the impregnation method, adjusting the pH of the solution to 10, and using the electrostatic adsorption to achieve spatial confinement, the Pt elements were mainly distributed on the exposed TiO, thus generating the Pt/10EG-TiO-10 catalyst.

In this work, a special multilayer structure consisting of polylactic acid (PLA) and a co-continuous PLA/polycaprolactone (PCL)/multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) (ALM) composite with a double-percolated conductive network was fabricated layer-assembly coextrusion. It was revealed that PLA domains located at the layer interface could serve as rivets properly linking adjacent layers. Such a nacre-like structure with alternately stacked rigid PLA and flexible ALM increased the fracture strain to 354.

Traditional metal-plastic dissimilar welding methods directly heat the metal workpiece, which may cause potential thermal damage to the metal workpiece. Ultrasonic extruded weld-riveting (UEWR) is a relatively new method for dissimilar joining of carbon fiber-reinforced thermoplastic (CFRTP) and metal. In this method, the CFRTP workpiece is melted using the ultrasonic effect and is squeezed into prefabricated holes in the metal workpiece to form a rivet structure.
