Ischaemic postconditioning (IPOC) is an intervention in which brief, intermittent periods of reocclusion at the onset of reperfusion (i.e. stuttering reperfusion) protect myocardium from lethal reperfusion injury. The mechanism underlying the cardioprotective effects of IPOC is incompletely understood. However, it is perceived that IPOC begins with specific cell-surface receptors responsible for activating a number of signalling pathways, many of which appear to converge at the mitochondrial level. IPOC has been demonstrated both in animal models and in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) in small proof-of-concept trials. This intervention offers the possibility of further limiting infarct size in patients undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Here, we provide a brief overview of the concept of IPOC and the mechanisms underlying this phenomenon. (Neth Heart J 2010;18:389-93.).

Signaling pathways often convergence on transcription factors (TFs) and other DNA-binding proteins (DBPs) that regulate chromatin structure and gene expression, thereby governing a broad range of essential cellular functions. However, the repertoire of DBPs is incompletely understood even for the best-characterized pathways. Here, we optimized a strategy for the isolation of Proteins on Chromatin (iPOC) exploiting tagged nucleoside analogues to label the DNA and capture associated proteins, thus enabling the comprehensive, sensitive, and unbiased characterization of the DNA-bound proteome.

Here, we report the facile synthesis of imidazole-linked porous organic cages (IPOCs) via an in situ cyclization reaction protocol. Specifically, three IPOCs with [2+4] lantern-like structures and one with a [3+6] triangular prism structure were successfully prepared through condensation reactions between tetraformyl-functionalized calix[4]arene and bis(o-phenylenediamine) monomers in a single pot. Notably, these IPOCs exhibit high porosity, with Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) specific surface areas reaching up to 1162 m g.

Very low frequency electromagnetic waves adeptly propagate in harsh cross-medium environments, surmounting the rapid attenuation that impedes high-frequency counterparts. Traditional low frequency antennas, however, encounter challenges concerning size, efficiency, and power. Here, an isolation transformer based very low frequency loop antenna with compact size and well impedance matching is proposed to enhance radiation characteristics for long-distance communication.

We studied the changes in various physical fractions within aggregates in the arid plateau of southern Shanxi Province, which has great significance for synergistically improving soil fertility and crop productivity in this region. Bulk soil samples were collected from 0-20 cm layers during a 7-year long-term experiment in Hongtong County, Shanxi Province. Wheat grain yields, SOC concentrations, proportions, and OC contents within soil aggregates were analyzed.

In the evolving landscape of sixth-generation wireless communication, the integration of visible light communication (VLC) and visible light positioning (VLP), known as visible light positioning and communication (VLPC), emerges as a pivotal technology. This study addresses the challenges of asynchronous code division multiplexing (ACDM) in VLPC networks, focusing on the enhancement of data transmission quality and positioning accuracy. Firstly, we propose an orthogonal pseudo-random code (OPRC) for ACDM-based VLP systems.
