Pyrrole- and 1,2,3-triazole-based 2,3-oxidosqualene cyclase (OSC) inhibitors 3 and 4 were discovered by conducting a virtual screening, a docking study based on the crystallographic structure of OSC, and biological assays. The hit rate of the assays was increased by establishing appropriate substructural filters in the virtual screening stage. Amide derivatives of 8 and 12 preserved the inhibitory activity of parent compound 3, which provided a reasonable starting point for further structure-activity-relationship (SAR) studies on related compounds.

A facile two-step enantiospecific synthesis of 5,6,7,8-tetrahydroindolizine scaffolds has been developed via TMSOTf-promoted [3 + 2] cycloaddition between carbohydrate-derived spirocyclic donor-acceptor cyclopropanecarboxlates and alkyl/aryl nitriles followed by an intramolecular Mitsunobu reaction of the resulting chiral 2/5-(4-hydroxybutyl)pyrrole derivatives.

Land-based inputs, such as runoff, rivers, and submarine groundwater, can alter biologic processes on coral reefs. While the abiotic factors associated with land-based inputs have strong effects on corals, corals are also affected by biotic interactions, including other neighboring corals. The biologic responses of corals to changing environmental conditions and their neighbors are likely interactive; however, few studies address both biotic and abiotic interactions in concert.

Heavy metal pollution, especially arsenic toxicity, significantly impairs plant growth and development. Phenolic acids, known for their antioxidant properties and involvement in stress signaling, are gaining increased attention as plant secondary metabolites with the potential to enhance plant resistance to these stressors. This study aimed to investigate the effects of different concentrations of syringic acid (SA1, 10 μM; SA2, 250 μM; SA3, 500 μM) on growth, photosynthetic parameters, and antioxidant activity in lettuce seedlings subjected to arsenic stress (As, 100 μM).

Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of Dendrobium officinale in the treatment of radiotherapy-induced oral mucositis in nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients, and to explore its regulating effect on immune function and oral microbiota by comparing immune-related factors and oral microbiota before and after the intervention.
Methods: We conducted a randomized double-blinded controlled trial in Zhejiang Cancer Hospital. Sixty patients with nasopharyngeal cancer combined with radiotherapy-induced oral mucositis were randomly divided into a study group and control group, with 30 cases in each group The study group used compound vitamin B12 solution and Dendrobium tea drink, and the control group simply used compound vitamin B12 solution rinse.

High temperatures severely affect plant growth and development leading to major yield losses. These temperatures are expected to increase further due to global warming, with longer and more frequent heat waves. Rhamnolipids (RLs) are known to protect several plants against various pathogens.
