Spontaneous Chest Wall Hematoma in a Hemodialysis Patient: A Case Report.

J Clin Med

January 2025

Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Chonnam National University Hospital, Chonnam National University Medical School, 42 Jebong-ro, Dong-gu, Gwangju 61469, Republic of Korea.

: Spontaneous chest wall hematomas are rare but potentially life-threatening complications, particularly in patients with multiple comorbidities such as those undergoing hemodialysis. This case report aims to highlight the significance of early diagnosis and appropriate management in preventing complications associated with this condition. : We report the case of a 79-year-old man with end-stage renal disease on hemodialysis, presenting with a large spontaneous hematoma (18.

In Vitro Model of Vascular Remodeling Under Microfluidic Perfusion.

Micromachines (Basel)

December 2024

Department of Mechanical Engineering, Shibaura Institute of Technology, 3-7-5 Toyosu, Koto-ku, Tokyo 135-8548, Japan.

We developed a portable microfluidic system that combines spontaneous lumen formation from human umbilical endothelial cells (HUVECs) in fibrin-collagen hydrogels with active perfusion controlled by a braille actuator. Adaptive interstitial flow and feedthrough perfusion switching enabled the successful culture of spontaneously formed naturally branched lumens for more than one month. We obtained many large-area (2 mm × 3 mm) long-term (more than 30 days per run) time-lapse image datasets of the in vitro luminal network using this microfluidic system.

The key flavor compound formation pathways resulting from indigenous microorganisms during the spontaneous fermentation of wine have not been thoroughly described. In this study, high-throughput metagenomic sequencing and untargeted metabolomics were utilized to investigate the evolution of microbial and metabolite profiles during spontaneous fermentation in industrial-scale wine production and to elucidate the formation mechanisms of key flavor compounds. Metabolome analysis showed that the total amount of esters, fatty acids, organic acids, aldehydes, terpenes, flavonoids, and non-flavonoids increased gradually during fermentation.

In this study, the interactions between three quaternary ammonium salt (QAS) cationic surfactants with different branched-chain lengths (TMBAC, TEBAC, and TBBAC) and DNA are investigated by UV-vis absorption, fluorescence and CD spectroscopy, viscosity method, and gel electrophoresis. Berberine hydrochloride (BR) is utilized as a fluorescent probe. The three interaction modes and strengths are compared.
