Bis(2,2'-bipyrid-6'-yl)ketone has been shown to co-ordinate to Zn(II) to form either a dinuclear hemiketal complex in methanol solutions or mononuclear complexes in acetonitrile. The ligand readily complexes to the late transition metals in acetonitrile to yield mononuclear complexes (Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II),Zn(II) and Cd(II)) however for Fe(II) only dinuclear complexes [Fe(2){(2-bipy)(2)C(OMe)O(-)}(2)][ClO(4)](2) could be isolated. The solid state structures of the mononuclear complexes exhibit varying degrees of distortion compared to an anticipated planar array of bipyridyl donors.

The importance of fluorine and aluminum in all aspects of daily life has led to an enormous increase in human exposure to these elements in their various forms. It is therefore important to understand the routes of exposure and to investigate and understand the potential toxicity. Of particular concern are aluminum-fluoride complexes (AlF), which are able to mimic the natural isostructural phosphate group and influence the activity of numerous essential phosphoryl transferases.

Peripheral blood mononuclear cells' (PBMCs) mitochondrial respiration is impaired and likely involved in myocardial injury and heart failure pathophysiology, but its response to acute and severe hypoxia, often associated with such diseases, is largely unknown in humans. We therefore determined the effects of acute hypoxia on PBMC mitochondrial respiration and ROS production in healthy volunteers exposed to controlled oxygen reduction, achieving an inspired oxygen fraction of 10.5%.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease that leads to joint damage and physical dysfunction. The pathogenesis of RA is highly complex, involving genetic, epigenetic, immune, and metabolic factors, among others. Over the years, research has highlighted the importance of non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) in regulating gene expression.

[CuL(tmen)] is a sequence of four ternary mononuclear Schiff base copper(II) complexes that are derived from L-valine, suitable 5'-substituted-2'-hydroxyacetophenones (where the substituents are -Cl for L, -Me for L, -OMe for L, and -H for L), and tmen (where tmen-N,N,N',N' tetramethyl ethylenediamine). Without isolating the Schiff base ligand or producing any other intermediate products, all of the complexes were synthesised. These compounds were identified using elemental analysis, molar conductance, UV-Vis, FTIR, EPR, VSM-RT, and CD spectra.

Symmetrical bis(hydrazone)-based ligands, Hdar(bhz) (), Hdar(fah) (), Hdar(nah) (), and Hdar(inh) () obtained from 4,6-diacetylresorcinol (Hdar) and different hydrazides [benzoylhydrazide (Hbhz), isonicotinoylhydrazide (Hinh), nicotinoylhydrazide (Hnah), and 2-furoylhydrazide (Hfah)], were used to prepare potassium salts of binuclear -[VO] complexes, {K(HO)}[(VO)dar(bhz)] (), {K(HO)}[(VO)dar(fah)] (), {K(HO)}[(VO)dar(nah)] (), and {K(HO)}[(VO)dar(inh)] (), and binuclear [VO] complexes, [{VO(MeOH)}dar(bhz)] (), [{VO(MeOH)}dar(fah)] (), [{VO(MeOH)}dar(nah)] (), and [{VO(MeOH)}dar(inh)] (). In the presence of warm MeOH/DMSO (4:1), changed to {K(HO)}[(VO)Hdar(nah)]DMSO (·DMSO). Single crystal XRD studies of and confirm a binuclear structure along with a distorted square pyramidal geometry of each vanadium center where bis{ONO(2-)} ligands coordinate through phenolate-O, azomethine-N, and enolate-O atoms of each unit.
