Unlabelled: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is clinically aggressive and relatively unresponsive to current therapies. Therefore, the development of new anticancer agents is needed to satisfy clinical needs. Oxyphenisatin acetate (Acetalax), which had been used as a laxative, has recently been reported to have anticancer activity in murine models.

We demonstrate the electrochemical quantification of individual catechins (epicatechin, EC; epigallocatechin, EGC; epicatechingallate, ECG; and epigallocatechingallate, EGCG) in a green tea infusion without a separation process nor any adsorption complication. In the detection of catechins, long-length carbon nanotube (CNT)-carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) thin-film electrodes have attractive properties, such as well-defined current peaks, high reproducibility from sample to sample, high repeatability, and low background current. Cyclic voltammograms (CVs) for real green tea, which is mainly composed of a mixture of the four catechins, are produced by the sum of those catechins.

[Treatment of Chronic Functional Constipation during Pregnancy and Lactation].

Z Geburtshilfe Neonatol

February 2016

KA Rudolfstiftung, Gyn./Obstet., Vienna, Austria.

Natural fibres (bulk-forming agents), docusate sodium (stool-softener), mineral oils (lubricant laxatives), macrogol (polyethylene glycol, PEG), sugars and sugar alcohols (osmotic laxatives) and anthraquinones and diphenolic laxatives (stimulant laxatives) seem to be safe medicaments regarding teratogenicity and lactation. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) risk categories for these substances taken during pregnancy and lactation are often the result of the lack of studies than of evidence-based information. So risk categories do not help in the decision-making for the right laxative.

Park-Klinik Weissensee, Schönstr. 80, 13086 Berlin.

Chronic constipation is a frequent condition often requiring pharmacological treatment. A number of laxatives that belong to very different pharmacological groups are available. Most relevant are the older representatives osmotic salts, sugars and sugar alcohols, macrogol, anthraquinones, diphenolic laxatives (bisacodyl and sodium picosulphate), and the newer compounds prucalopride and linaclotide.
