Hybrid solar cells employing conjugated polymers have revolutionized the photovoltaic industry by offering the prospect for large-scale energy conversion applications through cost-effective fabrication techniques. In this regard, we have demonstrated an experimental approach to fabricate polypyrrole/ZnCoO nanorod hybrid systems, using hydrothermal and electropolymerization techniques. The structural property studies on the hydrothermally synthesized Co-doped ZnO nanocrystallites revealed them to be phase pure with rod-like morphology. Considering the significant enhancement in their absorbance values over the visible spectral range (possibility for extended photon absorption), ZnCoO (Zn(0.95)Co(0.05)O) nanorods were deposited on transparent conducting (FTO) substrates through dip-coating methodology, for the fabrication of working electrodes. Electropolymerization of the pyrrole monomers was then carried out on the fabricated electrodes through cyclic voltammetry. The formation of polymer material was verified using FT-IR spectroscopy. The morphological evolution of polypyrrole deposits and their distribution on the working electrodes were substantially studied using atomic force microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The flat band potential for the hybrid systems assimilated from the Mott-Schottky plots was observed to shift towards negative direction compared with ZnCoO, presumably due to the presence of the polymer composites, which gives rise to a more negative potential.

Background: Left ventricular (LV) dilatation and extensive scar portend a poor prognosis in heart failure (HF). The Revivent TC system (BioVentrix Inc) is used either during a hybrid transcatheter-surgical or a surgical-only procedure to exclude transmural scar and reduce LV dimensions.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the safety and efficacy of the Revivent TC® anchor system in patients with HF.

Introduction: This analysis aimed to investigate diabetes-specific psychological outcomes among adults with type 1 diabetes (T1D) using hybrid closed-loop (HCL) versus standard therapy.
Research Design And Methods: In this multicenter, open-label, randomized, controlled, parallel-group clinical trial, adults with T1D were allocated to 26 weeks of HCL (MiniMed™ 670G) or standard therapy (insulin pump or multiple daily injections without real-time continuous glucose monitoring). Psychological outcomes (awareness and fear of hypoglycemia; and diabetes-specific positive well-being, diabetes distress, diabetes treatment satisfaction, and diabetes-specific quality of life (QoL)) were measured at enrollment, mid-trial and end-trial.

Continuum solvation models such as the polarizable continuum model and the conductor-like screening model are widely used in quantum chemistry, but their application to large biosystems is hampered by their computational cost. Here, we report the parametrization of the Miertus-Scrocco-Tomasi (MST) model for the prediction of hydration free energies of neutral and ionic molecules based on the domain decomposition formulation of COSMO (ddCOSMO), which allows a drastic reduction of the computational cost by several orders of magnitude. We also introduce several novelties in MST, like a new definition of atom types based on hybridization and an automatic setup of the cavity for charged regions.

Exploring potential third-order nonlinear optical (NLO) materials attracts ever-increasing attention. Given that the atomically precise and rich adjustable structural features of silver nanoclusters (Ag NCs), as well as the unique π-electron conjugated system of carbon-based nanomaterials, a supramolecular co-assembly amplification strategy to enhance the luminescent intensity and NLO performance of the hybrids of the two components, are constructed and the relationship between structures and optical properties are investigated. By combining water soluble Ag NCs [(NH)[Ag(mna)] (Hmna = 2-mercaptonicotinic acid, abbreviated to Ag─NCs hereafter) containing uncoordinated carboxyl groups with water-soluble fullerene derivatives modified with multiple hydroxyl groups (fullerenols, C─OH), the π-electron delocalization is expanded owing to non-covalent hydrogen bonding effect between Ag6─NCs and C─OH, which provides a feasible basis for realizing the NLO response.

Background And Purpose: Pituitary adenylate cyclase activating polypeptide (PACAP) is a human migraine trigger that is being targeted for migraine. The δ-opioid receptor (δ-receptor) is a novel target for the treatment of migraine, but its mechanism remains unclear. The goals of this study were to develop a mouse PACAP-headache model using clinically significant doses of PACAP; determine the effects of δ-receptor activation in this model; and investigate the co-expression of δ-receptors, PACAP and PACAP-PAC1 receptor.
