Bayesian trial designs rely on the specification of a vague data prior to the determination of trial outcome. Phase II two-stage single arm oncology trials have a generally small sample size which may not provide the necessary amount of data to outweigh a misspecified or overly optimistic prior. To account for this issue, clinicians may wish to benchmark Bayesian errors with frequentist measures of trial validity, Type I and Type II errors. A confidence prior, reflecting the clinician's confidence in the efficacy of the treatment before data accrual, is used to equate the errors across design strategies. An exact method, modelling both the inherent small sample size and multi-stage decision process of Phase II single arm trials, is presented for constructing the confidence prior.

When we touch ourselves, the pressure appears weaker compared to when someone else touches us, an effect known as sensory attenuation. Sensory attenuation is spatially tuned and does only occur if the positions of the touching and the touched body-party spatially coincide. Here, we ask about the contribution of visual or proprioceptive signals to determine self-touch.

Background: Several randomized clinical trials have shown that the composite endpoint of death, stroke, and myocardial infarction (MI) is equivalent between carotid artery stenting and carotid endarterectomy. However, the risk of minor stroke has been consistently higher with carotid artery stenting.
Objectives: The authors sought to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of a novel carotid stent system comprised of a stent, an adjustable integrated embolic filter and a postdilation balloon, in patients at elevated risk for adverse events from carotid endarterectomy.

Arthroscopic rotator cuff repair (RCR) is a common procedure, yet long-term patient-centered outcome studies remain limited. This study aims to evaluate the outcomes of arthroscopic RCR using a single-row metallic anchor technique over a 12-year follow-up, focusing on patient-reported outcomes and potential risk factors. A monocentric cohort study was conducted on patients who underwent complete arthroscopic RCR with a single-row metallic anchor technique from January 2007 to July 2011.

Benralizumab is an anti-IL-5 receptor alpha monoclonal antibody that induces the near-complete depletion of eosinophils. This study aimed to evaluate the long-term safety and effectiveness of benralizumab in patients with severe eosinophilic asthma (SEA) over an extended 48-month follow-up period, offering one of the longest real-world perspectives available. This was a single-arm, retrospective, observational, multicenter study involving 123 SEA patients treated with benralizumab at a dosage of 30 mg every 4 weeks for the first 3 doses and then every 8 weeks.

This study compares clinical and radiological outcomes of open microscopic posterior cervical foraminotomy (PCF) and biportal endoscopic spine surgery (BESS) PCF in multi-level cases. While BESS PCF is effective in single-level surgeries, its role in multi-level procedures remains unclear. : This retrospective cohort study included 60 patients treated for cervical radiculopathy from 2016 to 2023, divided into two groups, open microscopic PCF (Group M, = 30) and BESS PCF (Group B, = 30).
