In this letter, we report the fabrication of microbelts through the coassembly of hexa-2-pyridyl-hexaazatriphenylen (HPHAT), a disklike pi-conjugated molecule, with primary alkyl ammonium triflate. The strategy is first to construct hydrogen-bonded complexes between HPHAT and primary alkyl ammoniums to mimic covalently bonded pi-core alkyl chain structures, and then the complexes self-assemble into microbelts driven by pi-pi stacking in the pi core and van der Waals interactions between the peripheral alkyl chains. The morphology of as-prepared microbelts has been characterized with scanning electron microscopy (SEM), optical microscopy, polarizing microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Spectroscopic and crystallographic investigations were also carried out to reveal the formation mechanism of the microbelts, through which a sequential self-assembly process has been proposed.

Efficacy and safety of low-dose TBI combined MAC regimen for HSCT in high-risk AML patients with active disease.

Ann Med

December 2025

Department of Hematology, Affiliated Hangzhou First People's Hospital, Westlake University, School of Medicine, Hangzhou, China.

Background: The management of high-risk acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) remains challenging, highlighting the need for innovative conditioning strategies beyond current regimens.

Methods: In the present single-arm study, a FACT regimen comprised of low-dose total body irradiation (TBI) with fludarabine, cytarabine and cyclophosphamide was employed to treat cytogenetically high-risk AML patients exhibiting pre-transplant active disease. This clinical trial is registered in the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry with the registration number ChiCTR2000035111.

CpG hypomethylation at proximal promoter and 5'UTR along with IL6 signaling loop associates with MYD88 upregulation in epithelial ovarian cancer.

December 2024

Department Gynecological Oncology, Sichuan Clinical Research Center for Cancer, Sichuan Cancer Hospital & Institute, Sichuan Cancer Center, Affiliated Cancer Hospital of University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, No. 55, Section 4, South People's Road, Chengdu, 610041, China.

MYD88 is an IL-6 primary response gene and, its upregulation of expression has been shown to be a poor prognostic factor in epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). We investigated the effects of CpG methylation at the proximal promoter/5'UTR and IL-6/SP1/IRF1 signaling on upregulation of MYD88 and prognosis in EOC. We assessed CpG methylation at the proximal promoter/5'UTR of MYD88 using bisulfite sequencing/PCR in 103 EOC patients, 28 normal ovarian tissues and two EOC cell lines with differential expression of MYD88 and identified the impact of the level of CpG methylation on MYD88 upregulation by SP1/IRF1 with knockdown or blockade of IL-6.

Iron-Photocatalyzed Decarboxylative Alkylation of Carboxylic Acids with Morita-Baylis-Hillman Acetates.

College of Advanced Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (CAIST), Henan University of Technology, Zhengzhou 450001, Henan, P. R. China.

We present an iron-photocatalyzed decarboxylative alkylation strategy involving carboxylic acids and Morita-Baylis-Hillman (MBH) acetates to synthesize -type tri- and tetrasubstituted alkenes with moderate to excellent stereoselectivity (/ ratio up to >19:1). This method is applicable to a broad range of structurally diverse primary, secondary, and tertiary alkyl carboxylic acids, as well as complex pharmaceutical and natural carboxylic acids, achieving efficient alkylation of various MBH acetates under mild conditions (>60 examples, with yields up to 96%). This approach offers a powerful strategy for streamlined alkylation.

Cytokinin Plays a Multifaceted Role in Ralstonia solanacearum-Triggered Plant Disease Development.

Cytokinin signalling plays both positive and negative roles in plant resistance to pathogens. It is not clear whether the role of cytokinin changes at the different stages of pathogen infection. Arabidopsis thaliana sequentially exhibits distinct root morphological symptoms during Ralstonia solanacearum infection, which offers a good system to investigate function of cytokinin in the whole pathogen infection process.
