Background: Platelet concentrates play an important role in clinical treatment such as platelet function disorders and thrombocytopenia. In the process of preparation and storage of platelets, centrifugation, leukofiltration, and agitation will cause morphological changes and impaired function of platelets, which is associated with the increase of platelet transfusion refractoriness, and named as platelet storage lesion (PSL).
Method: This paper proposes three major operations (centrifugation, agitation, and leukofiltration) that platelets experience during the preparation and storage process, to explore the effect of physical cues on PSL.

Background: Palliative sedation involves the intentional proportional lowering of the level of consciousness in patients with life-limiting disease who are experiencing refractory suffering. The efficacy of palliative sedation needs to be monitored to ensure patient comfort. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy using discomfort levels combined with sedation/agitation levels.

Cancer-related pain is a pervasive symptom affecting the quality of life in patients with malignant tumors. For those with refractory pain, palliative sedation combined with pain management is recommended. Dexmedetomidine (DEX), known for its unique "awake sedation" effect, remains relatively unexplored when used in conjunction with patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) for terminal-stage cancer patients.

Introduction: Perampanel is a selective non-competitive antagonist of AMPA receptors, and the first agent of this class to become available for the treatment of epilepsy. It could be a useful tool for treatment of refractory status epilepticus (RSE).
Methods: We describe a series of eight RSE cases treated with Perampanel.

Purpose/background: Antipsychotic polypharmacy (APP) is controversial yet applied in 20% of patients with psychotic disorders. We investigated indications for initiating and continuing APP, including the contribution of unfinished cross-titrations.
Methods/procedures: This 2-month study was part of a prospective study to reduce inappropriate APP in inpatients.
