A DFT computational investigation predicts that the Au(III) complex (bpy)Au(C(6)H(5))(2+) reacts with benzene to furnish square planar (bpy)Au(C(6)H(5))(eta(1)-C(6)H(6))(2+). Intramolecular processes that occur within this species have been located, and the energetics of all processes have been quantified. The dynamic processes that have been identified are (1) benzene ring rotation with respect to Au, (2) direct hydrogen transfer from the benzene to the phenyl ligand, (3) hydrogen transfer from the ipso to the ortho positions in the coordinated benzene ligand, and (4) hydrogen transfer from the benzenium ligand formed by the ipso/ortho isomerization to the phenyl ligand. Similarities and differences are seen between the behavior of (bpy)Au(C(6)H(5))(eta(1)-C(6)H(6))(2+) and previously reported isoelectronic Pt(II) complexes. Preliminary experimental results related to this chemistry are reported, and possible consequences for C-H bond activation mediated by gold are discussed.

Catalytic elimination through an oxidative decomposition pathway is the most promising candidate for the purification of chlorinated volatile organic compound (CVOC) pollutants, but the complicated mechanisms and the formation pathways of hydrogenated byproducts still need to be clearly revealed. Herein, W/ZrO, as a structure-tunable catalyst, is used to catalytically oxidize dichloromethane (DCM) and clarify the formation pathway of monochloromethane (MCM). Crystal engineering of ZrO tailors surface WO species; practically, the predominant Zr-WO clusters and crystalline WO can be obtained on monoclinic (m-ZrO) and tetragonal (t-ZrO) phases.

The side-chain directions in nonfullerene acceptors (NFAs) strongly influence the intermolecular interactions in NFAs; however, the influence of these side chains on the morphologies and charge carrier dynamics of Y6-based acceptors remains underexplored. In this study, we synthesize four distinct Y6-based acceptors, i.e.

Electrochemical water splitting is a promising method for generating green hydrogen gas, offering a sustainable approach to addressing global energy challenges. However, the sluggish kinetics of the anodic oxygen evolution reaction (OER) poses a great obstacle to its practical application. Recently, increasing attention has been focused on introducing various external stimuli to modify the OER process.

In this study, a Pd nanoparticles@hydrogen-bonded organic framework (Pd NPs@HOF) thin film was fabricated at the toluene-water interface. The HOF was formed through the interaction of trimesic acid (TMA) and melamine (Mel) in the water phase, while Pd(0) was produced from the reduction of [PdCl(cod)] in the organic phase. The as-synthesized Pd NPs@HOF thin film was demonstrated to be an effective catalyst for the selective reduction of -nitrophenol and -nitrophenol to -aminophenol and -aminophenol.

Herein, we demonstrate a two-in-one strategy for efficient neutral electrosynthesis of H2O2 via two-electron oxygen reduction reaction (2e-ORR), achieved by synergistically fine-modulating both the local microenvironment and electronic structure of indium (In) single atom (SA) sites. Through a series of finite elemental simulations and experimental analysis, we highlight the significant impact of phosphorous (P) doping on an optimized 2D mesoporous carbon carrier, which fosters a favorable microenvironment by improving the mass transfer and O2 enrichment, subsequently leading to an increased local pH levels. Consequently, an outstanding 2e-ORR performance is observed in neutral electrolytes, achieving over 95% selectivity for H2O2 across a broad voltage range of 0.
