Current profiling of rough diamond source is performed using different physical and/or morphological techniques that require strong knowledge and experience in the field. More recently, chemical impurities have been used to discriminate diamond source and with the advance of laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) empirical profiling of rough diamonds is possible to some extent. In this study, we present a LA-ICP-MS methodology that we developed for analyzing ultra-trace element impurities in rough diamond for origin determination ("profiling"). Diamonds from two sources were analyzed by LA-ICP-MS and were statistically classified by accepted methods. For the two diamond populations analyzed in this study, binomial logistic regression produced a better overall correct classification than linear discriminant analysis. The results suggest that an anticipated matrix match reference material would improve the robustness of our methodology for forensic applications.

Electrospun poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL)-based scaffolds are widely used in tissue engineering. However, low cell adhesion remains the key drawback of PCL scaffolds. It is well known that nitrogen-doped diamond-like carbon (N-DLC) coatings deposited on the surface of various implants are able to enhance their biocompatibility and functional properties.

In the process of aluminum alloy reflector mirror processing, the structural defects of aluminum alloys present bottlenecks restricting the development of aluminum alloy reflector mirror processing technologies. Therefore, this study proposes an aluminum alloy reflector mirror processing method involving ultrasonic rolling and single-point diamond turning. The core idea of this method is to use ultrasonic rolling to pretreat the surface of the workpiece to refine the grains and increase the hardness, then perform single-point diamond turning to improve the optical reflection performance.

As an environment-friendly material, graphene oxide nanosheet can effectively improve the polishing surface quality of single crystal diamond workpieces. However, the lubricating and chemical effects of graphene oxide nanosheets have an uncertain impact on the polishing material removal rate. In this paper, the graphene oxide-enhanced hybrid slurry was prepared with good stability.

This study evaluates the deposition of diamond-like carbon (DLC) films with copper impurities on a glass substrate using simultaneous direct current (DC) and radio frequency (RF) magnetron sputtering. The structural, optical, electrical, and mechanical properties, as well as the surface topography of the films, were investigated under various DC power levels using Raman spectroscopy, ellipsometry, UV-VIS, I-V measurements, nanoindentation, AFM, and FESEM. Results indicate that increasing the DC power to the graphite target from 60 to 120 , while maintaining a constant 10 of RF power to the copper target, enhances the optical absorption coefficient of the films and increases the optical bandgap from 0.
