Objective: To study the transformation of Astragaloside IV in bidirectional solid fermenting of Astragalus membranaceus var. mongholicus.
Methods: The chemical components of pre and post-fermenting were comparatively analyzed by techniques of HPLC, column chromatography and spectral identification. Antioxidant effect of transformational product on vascular endothelial cells was researched.
Results: In fermenting of Astragalus membranaceus, Astragaloside IV was transformed into 6-O-beta-D-glucoside cycloastragenol, which had significant antioxidant effect.
Conclusion: Biotransformation of Astragaloside IV in Astragalus membranaceus was occurred after bidirectional solid fermenting with Ganoderma lucidum, and the biotransformation could enhance effect.

Based on the basic theoretical framework of the Bi-directional Evolutionary Structural Optimization method (BESO) and the Solid Isotropic Material with Penalization method (SIMP), this paper presents a multiscale topology optimization method for concurrently optimizing the sandwich structure at the macro level and the core layer at the micro level. The types of optimizations are divided into macro and micro concurrent topology optimization (MM), macro and micro gradient concurrent topology optimization (MMG), and macro and micro layered gradient concurrent topology optimization (MMLG). In order to compare the multiscale optimization method with the traditional macroscopic optimization method, the sandwich simply supported beam is illustrated as a numerical example to demonstrate the functionalities and superiorities of the proposed method.

Microbiome and radiotherapy represent bidirectionally interacting entities. The human microbiome has emerged as a pivotal modulator of the efficacy and toxicity of radiotherapy; however, a reciprocal effect of radiotherapy on microbiome composition alterations has also been observed. This review explores the relationship between the microbiome and extracranial solid tumors, particularly focusing on the bidirectional impact of radiotherapy on organ-specific microbiome.

Timely and effective detection of quality attributes during drying control is essential for enhancing the quality of fruit processing. Consequently, this study aims to employ hyperspectral imaging technology for the non-destructive monitoring of soluble solids content (SSC), titratable acidity (TA), moisture, and hardness in jujubes during hot air drying. Quality parameters were measured at drying temperatures of 55 °C, 60 °C, and 65 °C.

Bidirectional oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) electrocatalysts are key for molecular oxygen-centric renewable energy transduction via metal-air batteries. Here, a molecular cobalt complex is covalently tethered on a strategically functionalized silica surface that displayed both ORR and OER in alkaline media. The detailed X-ray absorbance spectroscopy (XAS) studies indicate that this catalyst retains its intrinsic molecular features while playing a central role during bidirectional electrocatalysis and demonstrating a relatively lower energy gap between O/HO interconversions.
