Objective: To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of modified Tianxiong Powder (MTP) in treating oligospermia and asthenospermia.
Methods: Eighty patients were equally randomized into two groups, the treated group administered with MTP, and the controlled group administered with Wuzi Yanzong Pill (WYP), all for 3 months. The comprehensive efficacy was observed; and parameters of patients' semen and figure of sperm were analyzed before and after treatment.
Results: The observation was completed in 70 patients. The total effective rate and markedly effective rate were 91.43% and 65.71%, respectively in the treated group, 85.71% and 54.29%, respectively in the control group, the pregnancy rate in their wives was 8.57% and 5.71%, respectively. Comparisons showed no statistical significance between groups (P > 0.05). Significant elevated perm count in semen and more active sperms with significantly better spermic figure, were found in both groups. However, the improvements in the treatment group were superior to those in the control group (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01).
Conclusion: MTP shows good efficacy and high safety in treating oligospermia and asthenospermia, and it could improve the spermic count, motility and figure, and reduce the head deformity rate.

Cancer treatments, including cytotoxic therapy, often result in male infertility, necessitating the development of safe and effective strategies to preserve male reproductive potential during chemotherapy. Notably, our study uncovers the potential of repurposing riluzole, an FDA-approved drug for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), in enhancing spermatogenesis. Hence, this research aims to explore the feasibility of utilizing riluzole to alleviate male infertility induced by busulfan (BSF), a commonly used chemotherapy drug.

Background: Procarbazine-containing chemotherapy regimens are associated with cytopenias and infertility, suggesting stem-cell toxicity. When treating Hodgkin lymphoma, procarbazine in escalated-dose bleomycin-etoposide-doxorubicin-cyclophosphamide-vincristine-procarbazine-prednisolone (eBEACOPP) is increasingly replaced with dacarbazine (eBEACOPDac) to reduce toxicity. We aimed to investigate the impact of this drug substitution on the mutation burden in stem cells, patient survival, and toxicity.

Infertility was reported in approximately 15% of all heterozygous couples, with the male factor accounting for nearly half of the cases. This typically occurs due to low sperm production, sperm dysfunction, and sperm delivery obstruction. In this randomized controlled single-blind clinical trial, 90 infertile male subjects diagnosed with oligospermia, hypospermia, asthenozoospermia, or necrozoospermia were recruited.

Oxidative stress is a well-known underlying mechanism for several diseases in response to environmental pollution. Although there is a lack of evidence on the relationship between air pollution and an established risk factor for urogenital dysfunction. The aim of this study was to investigate the mechanism of particulate matter (PM) on urogenital function and evaluate the potential efficacy of chlorogenic acid (CGA) in preventing urogenital damage in rats.

Guijiajiao-Lujiaojiao (GL) is a combination of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that can be used to treat oligoasthenozoospermia (OAS). However, its mechanistic role in OAS needs to be better understood and necessitates more studies. This study was planned to investigate GL's therapeutic effects and its mechanistic role in the tripterygium wilfordii polyglycoside (GTW)-induced OAS rat model.
