A recently developed animal model for the L-tryptophan-associated eosinophilia myalgia syndrome was used to examine the small intestine and colon, because there is clinical involvement at these sites in patients. Increased perivascular inflammatory infiltrates rich in degranulating mast cells, eosinophils, and monocytes were seen in the lamina propria of experimental animals when compared with controls. L-Tryptophan-associated disease also shares many clinical features with idiopathic scleroderma/eosinophilic fasciitis, in which there is gastrointestinal involvement as well. These features are similar to those found in the recently described animal model. The apparent morphologic and clinical similarities between these entities suggest that the animal model is suitable for further studying the pathogenesis of the gastrointestinal involvement in all these diseases.

Introduction: Existing pharmacotherapies for schizophrenia have not progressed beyond targeting dopamine and serotonin neurotransmission. Rodent models of schizophrenia are a necessary tool for elucidating neuropathological processes and testing potential pharmacotherapies, but positive preclinical results in rodent models often do not translate to positive results in the clinic.
Areas Covered: The authors reviewed PubMed for studies that applied rodent behavioral models of schizophrenia to assess the antipsychotic potential of several novel pharmacotherapies currently under investigation.

Objective: To study the effect of Dapagliflozin on ferroptosis in rabbits with chronic heart failure and to reveal its possible mechanism.
Methods: Nine healthy adult male New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divided into Sham group (only thorax opening was performed in Sham group, no ascending aorta circumferential ligation was performed), Heart failure group (HF group, ascending aorta circumferential ligation was performed in HF group to establish the animal model of heart failure), and Dapagliflozin group (DAPA group, after the rabbit chronic heart failure model was successfully made in DAPA group). Dapagliflozin was given by force-feeding method.

East Coast Fever (ECF) is one of the leading causes of livestock mortality and reduced productivity across Eastern Africa, and while a live vaccine against it known as the Infection and Treatment Method has existed for three decades now, its adoption by affected communities remains low. This study sought to provide a detailed examination of the dynamics that shape Infection Treatment Method (ITM) vaccine adoption behaviours. The study examined individual, socio-cultural and ecological- level factors influencing ITM adoption using the socio-ecological model.

Background: As ferroptosis is a key factor in renal fibrosis (RF), iron deposition monitoring may help evaluating RF. The capability of quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) for detecting iron deposition in RF remains uncertain.
Purpose: To investigate the potential of QSM to detect iron deposition in RF.

The development of mouse models for thyroid cancer has significantly advanced over the years, enhancing our understanding of thyroid tumorigenesis, molecular pathways, and treatment responses. The earliest mouse models of thyroid cancer relied on hormone, radiation, or chemical carcinogenesis to induce tumors. However, as our understanding of the genetic alterations driving thyroid cancer has expanded, more sophisticated genetic engineering techniques have been employed to create models with thyroid-specific expression of these driver mutations.
