Cotton blue disease is the most important virus disease of cotton in the southern part of America. The complete nucleotide sequence of the ssRNA genome of the cotton blue disease-associated virus was determined for the first time. It comprised 5,866 nucleotides, and the deduced genomic organization resembled that of members of the genus Polerovirus. Sequence homology comparison and phylogenetic analysis confirm that this virus (previous proposed name cotton leafroll dwarf virus) is a member of a new species within the genus Polerovirus.

Highly migratory pelagic sharks have the potential to serve as carriers of particle contamination in a vast three-dimensional space. We investigate the occurrence, abundance and characteristics of plastic and non-plastic particles in the scroll intestine of the blue shark (Prionace glauca), one of the most abundant pelagic shark species worldwide. We detected both plastic and non-plastic particles in all sections of the intestine, with the posterior region exhibiting the highest concentration.

In this study, copper nanoparticles with an average particle size of 2-4 nm were synthesized using the green extract of Thunb. The catalytic activity and dye degradation efficiency of Cu NPs were evaluated using ultraviolet spectroscopy. To confirm that Cu NPs can continuously remove organic dyes, this study used Cu/Lj-C composite material adsorbed on cotton balls as a simulated bed to study the cyclic catalytic activity of Cu NPs for the reduction of methylene blue by sodium borohydride (NaBH).

In this research, we produced two types of biochar (BC) using cotton stalks as raw material and KOH as an activator, and compared their performance and adsorption mechanisms in the removal of tetracycline (TC) and methylene blue (MB) from wastewater. The results showed that the biochar generated using both procedures formed pores that connected to the interior of the biochar and had extensive microporous and mesoporous structures. The molten salt approach produces biochar with a higher specific surface area, larger pore size, and higher pore volume than the impregnation method, with a maximum specific surface area of 3095 m/g.
