Three new bis-1,2,3-triazole strapped calix[4]pyrroles have been prepared via'click' chemistry and their anion complexation and lipid bilayer transport properties studied by a combination of single crystal X-ray diffraction studies, (1)H NMR titration techniques, isothermal titration calorimetry and lipid bilayer anion transport studies in POPC vesicles. Bilayer transport efficiency for transmembrane chloride transport was found to directly depend on the length of the alkyl chain present in the bis-triazole strap.

In recent decades, annual urban fire incidents, including those involving ancient wooden buildings burned, transportation, and solar panels, have increased, leading to significant loss of human life and property. Addressing this issue without altering the surface morphology or interfering with optical behavior of flammable materials poses a substantial challenge. Herein, we present a transparent, low thickness, ceramifiable nanosystem coating composed of a highly adhesive base (poly(SSS-co-HEMA)), nanoscale layered double hydroxide sheets as ceramic precursors, and supramolecular melamine di-borate as an accelerator.

Functional properties of aged hypothalamic cells.

Department Normal Physiology, Yaroslavl State Medical University, Yaroslavl, Russia. Electronic address:

The hypothalamus, in addition to controlling the main body's vital functions, is also involved in aging regulation. The aging process in the hypothalamus is accompanied by disturbed intracellular pathways, including Ca signaling and neuronal excitability in the brain. Intrinsic electrophysiological properties of individual neurons and synaptic transmission between cells is disrupted in the central nervous system of old animals.

Truncated hemoglobins (TrHbs) have an ancient origin and are widely distributed in microorganisms where they often serve roles other than dioxygen transport and storage. In extremophiles, these small heme proteins must have features that secure function under challenging conditions: at minimum, they must be folded, retain the heme group, allow substrates to access the heme cavity, and maintain their quaternary structure if present and essential. The genome of the obligate psychropiezophile Shewanella benthica strain KT99 harbors a gene for a TrHb belonging to a little-studied clade of globins (subgroup 2 of group N).

Chronic environmental exposure to polystyrene microplastics increases the risk of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.

Microplastics (MPs), as the crucial environmental pollutants, can be easily transported into the human body and accumulate in the liver. However, current studies mainly focus on acute exposure to MPs, investigations on long-term interactions with MPs alone remain limited. Thereby, we examined noxious properties of MPs and selected the most common polystyrene (PS) MPs as the research object, including unmodified PS MPs (PS-MPs) and positive-charged PS MPs (PS-NH) at 10 mg/L employing oral drinking water methods in mice for six consecutive months in vivo.

Background: Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) has a high incidence rate and poor prognosis, and currently lacks effective therapies. Recently, peptide-based drugs have shown promise in cancer treatment. In this research, a new endogenous peptide called CBDP1 was discovered in ccRCC and its potential anti-cancer properties were examined.
