We investigated the effects of colors on vection induction. Expanding optical flows during one's forward self-motion were simulated by moving dots. The dots and the background were painted in equiluminant red and green. Experiments 1 and 2 showed that vection was weaker when the background was red than when the background was green. In addition, Experiment 3 showed that vection was weaker when the moving dots were red than when the dots were green. Experiment 4 demonstrated that red dots on a red background induced very weak vection, as compared with green dots on a green background. In Experiments 5 and 6, we showed that the present results could not be explained by a luminance artifact. Furthermore, Experiment 7 showed that a moving red grating induced weaker vection than did a green one. We concluded that a red visual stimulus inhibits vection.

Photobiomodulation (PBM) is considered an effective and safe therapeutic modality in supporting the treatment of complications from a global pandemic-diabetes. In this study, PBM therapy is investigated to accelerate wound healing in diabetic mice (DM), under the combined biological effects of red light from a red organic light-emitting diode (ROLED) and near-infrared (NIR) light from an NIR conversion film (NCF) with dispersed CuInS/ZnS quantum dots (QDs). The QD concentration and the NCF structure were optimized to maximize the optical properties and mechanical stability.

Recent studies have reported that the cause and progression of many diseases are closely related to complex and diverse gene regulation involving multiple microRNAs (miRNAs). However, most existing methods for miRNA detection typically deal with one sample at a time, which limits the achievement of high diagnostic accuracy for diseases associated with multiple gene dysregulations. Herein, we develop a liquid flow-based microfluidic optical assay for the simple and reliable detection of two different target miRNAs simultaneously at room temperature without any enzymatic reactions.

Objective: Immune-related pancytopenia (IRP) is characterized by autoantibody-mediated destruction or suppression of bone marrow cells, leading to pancytopenia. This study aimed to explore the role of TRAPPC4 (trafficking protein particle complex subunit 4) as a key autoantigen in IRP, including epitope identification and immune activation mechanisms.
Methods: A total of 90 participants were included in the study, divided into four groups: 30 newly diagnosed IRP patients, 25 IRP remission patients, 20 patients with control hematologic conditions (severe aplastic anemia [SAA] and myelodysplastic syndrome [MDS]), and 15 healthy controls.

Background: Despite advancements in understanding the interplay between systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), cardiovascular disease and COVID-19, challenges and knowledge gaps persist. This study aimed to characterize the cardiovascular profiles of SLE patients hospitalized with COVID-19 and to evaluate the influence of SLE on the development of cardiovascular complications.
Methods: This was a multicentre, nationwide observational study in which data were sourced from the SEMI-COVID-19 Registry between March 1, 2020, and March 31, 2021, involving 150 Spanish hospitals.
