Surface of detonation nanodiamonds was functionalized for the covalent attachment of immunoglobulin, and simultaneously bovine serum albumin and Rabbit Anti-Mouse Antibody. The nanodiamond-IgG(I125) and RAM-nanodiamond-BSA(I125) complexes are stable in blood serum and the immobilized proteins retain their biological activity. It was shown that the RAM-nanodiamond-BSA(I125) complex is able to bind to the target antigen immobilized on the Sepharose 6B matrix through antibody-antigen interaction. The idea can be extended to use nanodiamonds as carriers for delivery of bioactive substances (i.e., drugs) to various targets in vivo.

Nanodiamonds (NDs) are used more frequently as drug carriers through absorption or chemical modification. In this report, we describe the chemical binding of metal β-diketonato complexes onto the ND surface using an aminosilane linker. The metals used were iron(III) and copper(II), with β-diketones, acetylacetone, trifluoroacetylacetone, and the naturally occurring curcumin, which is known for its biological activity.

This study investigates the use of nanodiamonds (ND) as a promising carrier for enzyme immobilization and compares the effectiveness of immobilized and native enzymes. Three different enzyme types were tested, of which Rhizopus niveus lipase (RNL) exhibited the highest relative activity, up to 350 %. Under optimized conditions (1 h, pH 7.

Background: Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is recognized as the most lethal and most highly invasive tumor. The high likelihood of treatment failure arises from the presence of the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and stem cells around GBM, which avert the entry of chemotherapeutic drugs into the tumor mass.

Objective: Recently, several researchers have designed novel nanocarrier systems like liposomes, dendrimers, metallic nanoparticles, nanodiamonds, and nanorobot approaches, allowing drugs to infiltrate the BBB more efficiently, opening up innovative avenues to prevail over therapy problems and radiation therapy.

Nanodiamonds (NDs) are considered promising delivery platforms, but inaccurate and uncontrolled release of drugs at target sites is the biggest challenge of NDs in precision medicine. This study presents the development of phototriggerable ND-based drug delivery systems, utilizing -nitrobenzyl (-NB) molecules as photocleavable linkers between drugs and nanocarriers. UV irradiation specifically cleaved -NB molecules and then was followed by releasing antisense oligonucleotides from ND-based carriers in both buffer and cellular environments.

The use of berberine hydrochloride (BCS class III) has limited application in psoriasis, when given as topical drug delivery systems, due to low permeability in the skin layer. Hence, berberine hydrochloride-loaded aquasome nanocarriers were developed for skin targeting, particularly epidermis (primary site of psoriasis pathophysiology) and enhance the skin permeability of berberine hydrochloride. Aquasomes were formulated using the adsorption method and characterized by structural morphology TEM, % drug adsorption, drug release profile (in-vitro and ex-vivo), in-vivo efficacy study and stability study.
