Two three-member classes were formed by training AB and BC using a conditional discrimination procedure. The A and B stimuli were nonsense syllables, and the C stimuli were sets of "short" or "long" lines. To test for equivalence, C1 or C2 was presented as a sample with A1 and A2 as comparisons. Once the class-related comparison was chosen consistently, different line lengths were substituted for the training lines in the CA tests. In general, the likelihood of choosing a given comparison was an inverse function of the difference in the length of the test line from the training line. Stimuli in an equivalence class became functionally related not only to each other but also to novel stimuli that resembled a member of the equivalence class. The combination of primary generalization and equivalence class formation, then, can serve as a model to account for the development of naturally occurring categories.

We study the large-time behavior of an ensemble of entities obeying replicator-like stochastic dynamics with mean-field interactions as a model for a primordial ecology. We prove the propagation-of-chaos property and establish conditions for the strong persistence of the N-replicator system and the existence of invariant distributions for a class of associated McKean-Vlasov dynamics. In particular, our results show that, unlike typical models of neutral ecology, fitness equivalence does not need to be assumed but emerges as a condition for the persistence of the system.

Objective: The most common medically resistant epilepsy (MRE) involves the temporal lobe (TLE), and children designated as temporal plus epilepsy (TLE+) have a five-times increased risk of postoperative surgical failure. This retrospective, blinded, cross-sectional study aimed to correlate visual and computational analyses of magnetoencephalography (MEG) virtual sensor waveforms with surgical outcome and epilepsy classification (TLE and TLE+).
Methods: Patients with MRE who underwent MEG and iEEG monitoring and had at least 1 year of postsurgical follow-up were included in this retrospective analysis.

Understanding the origin and effect of the confinement of molecules and transition states within the micropores of a zeolite can enable targeted design of such materials for catalysis, gas storage, and membrane-based separations. Linear correlations of the thermodynamic parameters of molecular adsorption in zeolites have been proposed; however, their generalizability across diverse molecular classes and zeolite structures has not been established. Here, using molecular simulations of >3500 combinations of adsorbates and zeolites, we show that linear trends hold in many cases; however, they collapse for highly confined systems.

This research investigates detectability of a class of mix-valued logical control networks through the application of a Luenberger-like observer. First, three concepts of detectability: detectability, strong detectability, and weak detectability are defined for the mix-valued logical control networks. Subsequently, the equivalent algebraic form of the control networks is obtained to deal with the three kinds of detectability.
