The aim of this retrospective study was to investigate the use of thoracic Computed Tomography (CT) in the Emergency Department of a Dublin Academic Teaching Hospital over a six month period. Data was retrieved using the hospital's computerised information system. There were 202 referrals in total for thoracic CT from the Emergency Department during this time period. The most common indication for thoracic CT referral was for the investigation of pulmonary embolism with 127 (63%) referrals. There were 40 (25%) referrals for suspected malignancy and lung disease, whilst 8 (4%) of the referrals were for investigation of thoracic aortic dissection, 8 (4%) for infection, and 6 (3%) were for investigation of thoracic injury. Only 8 (4%) of all referrals were for investigation of injury as a result of chest trauma.

Objective: To investigate differences in arterial involvement patterns on F-FDG PET-CT between predominant cranial and isolated extracranial phenotypes of giant cell arteritis (GCA).
Methods: A retrospective review of F-FDG PET-CT findings was conducted on 140 patients with confirmed GCA. The patients were divided into two groups: the cranial group, which presented craniofacial ischemic symptoms either at diagnosis or during follow-up, and the isolated extracranial group which never exhibited such manifestations.

Esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC) is an aggressive cancer characterized by a high risk of relapse post-surgery. Current follow-up methods (serum carcinoembryonic antigen detection and PET-CT) lack sensitivity and reliability, necessitating a novel approach. Analyzing cell-free DNA (cfDNA) from blood plasma emerges as a promising avenue.

An automatic system for pathology classification in chest X-ray scans needs more than predictive performance, since providing explanations is deemed essential for fostering end-user trust, improving decision-making, and regulatory compliance. CLARE-XR is a novel methodology that, when presented with an X-ray image, identifies the associated pathologies and provides explanations based on the presentation of similar cases. The diagnosis is achieved using a regression model that maps an image into a 2D latent space containing the reference coordinates of all findings.

Purpose: To investigate the utility of combined tumour and lymph node (LN) radiomics features in predicting disease-free survival (DFS) among patients with locally advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) after neoadjuvant chemotherapy and resection.
Methods: We retrospectively enrolled 176 ESCC patients from January 2013 to December 2016. Tumour and targeted LN segmentation were performed on venous phase CT images.

Background: Early evaluation of culture conversion after 6-month treatment of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) is vital for outcome prediction. This study aims to merge the maximum lesion cross-sectional area observed via computed tomography (CT) imaging during treatment to predict therapeutic response.
Methods: We retrospectively involved MDR-TB patients who completed 6 months of treatment from two hospitals.
