Objective: Cytokines are pain mediators in neurovascular inflammation. This study examined interleukin 6 (IL-6) levels in the serum of tension-type headache (TTH) patients, to determine if inflammation plays a role in the pathogenesis of this condition.

Methods: Serum IL-6 levels were studied in 42 patients and 37 healthy controls from the same region. Of the patients, 20 (47.6%) experiencing TTH less than 15 days per month were placed in episodic tension-type headache (ETTH) group, and 22 (52.3%) with TTH more than 15 days per month were placed in chronic tension-type headache (CTTH) group.

Results: The IL-6 level was significantly higher in the patients than in the controls. The IL-6 level of CTTH patients was higher than the controls (P<0.01). The IL-6 level was similar between ETTH and CTTH patients. Correlation analysis revealed a positive relationship only between age and IL-6 level in the patients.

Conclusions: CTTH and ETTH patients had an elevated serum IL-6 level compared with controls. Therefore, we believe that IL-6 may be involved in pain induction or inflammatory mechanisms in TTH. Furthermore studies of the possible connection between chronicity of headaches and cytokine levels are needed.

Background: An updated systematic review of cervical musculoskeletal dysfunction in migraine and tension-type headache is needed. Influencing factors (pain hypersensitivity with cervical musculoskeletal testing, active trigger points and tenderness) have not been investigated.

Objectives: To i) update evidence for cervical musculoskeletal impairments in migraine and tension-type headache ii) report on accompanying pain associated with testing, active trigger points and tenderness in headache; iii) determine relationships between these sensitivity features and cervical musculoskeletal impairments in headache.

Background: Recent studies suggest that increased digital technology usage could be a factor in the rising occurrence and severity of headache episodes. The purpose of this cross-sectional study was to determine whether the severity of primary headaches (migraine and tension-type headache) is associated with problematic internet use taking many covariates into account.

Methods: We conducted an online cross-sectional survey using a quantitative, descriptive questionnaire, targeting university students enrolled in correspondence courses, aged 18 to 65.

Background:  Headaches affect people's social, intellectual, and personal lives and are quite common worldwide, especially among young adults. Primary headaches that cause significant impairment, such as tension-type headaches (TTH) and migraines, frequently start in adolescence and early adulthood. Research on the incidence and consequences of headache problems among young people in India is scarce, especially when it comes to a variety of academic fields.

This pragmatic double-blind randomized clinical trial aims to assess the impact of vascular photobiomodulation on post-COVID-19 patients experiencing tension-type headache, orofacial pain, or both persisting for more than 3 months. Participants were divided into two groups: vascular photobiomodulation (VPBM) and simulated VPBM. Their conditions were evaluated using the Brief Pain Inventory (BPI), Visual Analogue Scale, and Headache Impact Test (HIT-6).
