Nucleolar prevalence, size, and outline were investigated on cytological material from cold thyroid nodules obtained by fine needle aspiration. The percentage of nucleolated nuclei in follicular adenoma (32 cases) was less than in follicular carcinoma (26 cases). In adenoma most nuclei contained one nucleolus, and nuclei with two or more nucleoli were less common than in carcinoma where most cases showed the highest nucleolar diameter values. There was some overlap between adenomas and carcinomas, however, when the mean of the 10 largest values of the major nucleolar diameter was considered. In follicular carcinoma the percentage of marginated nucleoli--that is, those touching the nuclear membrane--was, in general, greater than 20%; in adenoma the values were equal to or lower than 16%. The overlap index showed that the percentages of marginated nucleoli and nucleolated nuclei are the two best discriminatory features between adenoma and carcinoma.

Archaeocytes are considered a key cell type in sponges (Porifera). They are believed to be multifunctional cells performing various functions, from nutrient digestion to acting as adult stem cells (ASCs). Thus, archaeocytes are mentioned in discussions on various aspects of sponge biology.

Tumor pancreatic endocrine cells proliferated detrimental to exocrine counterpart, so that extensive areas of prevalent β-tumor cells can be seen. Two phenotypes of β-tumor cells can be identified: (1) β-tumor cells with full euchromatic and nucleolated nuclei and (2) β-tumor cells with heterochromatic and shrink nuclei.

Here, we report a case of an MMMT of the uterine corpus with an extensive squamous-cell carcinomatous component processed by liquid-based cytology (LBC).
Case Report: An 84-year-old woman with a prior history of anal squamous-cell carcinoma, who complained of vaginal bleeding, was discovered to have a mass protruding from the uterine cervix.

This report concerns one case of sacrococcygeal chordoma and one case of parachordoma (soft-tissue chordoma) that were primarily diagnosed on fine-needle cytology (FNC) samples. Both neoplasms consisted of medium-sized epithelioid cells with eccentric, nucleolated nuclei, displaying abundant cytoplasm filled with bubbly vacuoles with refractile borders (physaliphorous cells). The neoplastic cells were embedded in an abundant extracellular substance staining metachromatically with Diff-Quik™.

Selective enucleation (SE) was applied to germinal vesicle (GV) oocytes by removing the chromatin attached to nuclear envelope, and leaving the liquid contents of GV in the cytoplast. However, after reconstruction with 1/8 blastomeres or fetal fibroblasts (FFs) neither the maturation efficiency nor the frequency of normal (asymmetric) division was improved as compared with completely enucleated (CE) oocytes. Chromosomal aberrations introduced with somatic nuclei were not rescued in SE oocytes either.
