The Drosophila visual system is a powerful model to study the development of neural circuits. Lobula columnar neurons-LCNs are visual output neurons that encode visual features relevant to natural behavior. There are ~20 classes of LCNs forming non-overlapping synaptic optic glomeruli in the brain.

Nerve transfer of the median flexor pollicis brevis branch to the deep branch of the ulnar nerve for ulnar nerve palsy: a cadaveric feasibility study.

An ulnar nerve (UN) palsy is devastating for hand function, resulting in an intrinsic minus position or claw hand with a loss of pinch grip. Distal nerve transfers facilitate faster reinnervation of hand intrinsic muscles in cases of proximal ulnar nerve lesions. The traditional anterior interosseous nerve (AIN) to UN motor transfer is commonly used, however, this still leads to long reinnervation times for the distal intrinsic muscles, important for the thumb to index pinch grip.

Complex injuries to the posterior trunk can still pose a significant challenge to the reconstructive surgeon. Due to the lack of skin laxity, dependent anatomical location and the importance of the deeper structures, a systematic approach tailored to the individual defect should be considered for these types of reconstructions. In our case report, we present a reconstructive solution of a chronic defect of the back caused by resection of an ulceration.

Spinal cord injuries (SCIs) can lead to severe neuropathic pain and increased risk of myocardial infarction and heart failure; therefore, the use of analgesics against SCI-induced pain should be minimized because of their adverse effects on the cardiovascular system. Ivabradine, a blocker of hyperpolarization-activated cyclic nucleotide-gated cation (HCN) channels, is used as a bradycardic agent, but recent studies focused on it as an analgesic agent for peripheral neuropathic pain. However, the analgesic effects of ivabradine on central neuropathic pain, such as SCI-induced pain, have not been examined.

The aim of this study was to define the branching patterns and innervation regions of the superficial branch of the radial nerve and the dorsal branch of the ulnar nerve and to evaluate the distance from 1-2, 3-4, 4-5, midcarpal radial, midcarpal ulnar, dorsal radioulnar joint, 6-radial, 6-ulnar dorsal arthroscopy portals to certain landmarks on the dorsal surface of the hand and wrist. Forty hands and wrists of 20 formalin-fixed intact cadavers without any known pathology, surgical scars or trauma were examined in the Macroscopy Laboratory of Ege University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Anatomy. Arthroscopy portals were placed using a dorsal approach to the wrist in the dissection method.
