To present 2 cases of acute total loss of vision after scleral buckle surgery for rhegmatogenous retinal detachment. A retrospective chart review of 2 cases and an analysis of the literature were performed. An 18-year-old woman and a 67-year-old woman suffered complete loss of vision in their operative eye after primary scleral buckle surgery with encircling bands.

Initial experiences with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of living strangulation victims demonstrated additional findings of internal injuries compared to the standard clinical forensic examination. However, existing studies on the use of MRI for this purpose mostly focused on the first 48 h after the incident. The aims of this study were (a) to evaluate the longitudinal visibility of MRI findings after violence against the neck by performing two MRI examinations within 12 days and a minimum of four days between both MRI scans and (b) to assess which MRI sequences were most helpful for the detection of injuries.

Intussusception following Roux-en-Y gastric bypass is a rare, potentially life-threatening complication. Patients present with intermittent obstructive symptoms, and the diagnosis is made on imaging. Treatment is surgical considering the high likelihood of non-operative failure, strangulation, incarceration, perforation and concern for malignancy.
