In this study, the effect of the intensive "Quitter" intervention for smoking cessation was examined and compared to the standardized intensive intervention used in Denmark. The Quitter intervention, based on the Gold Standard Program (Q-GSP), involves large groups of approximately 70 participants, while the standardized GSP typically involves groups of 10-15 participants. In total, 105 and 14,289 smokers participated in the Q-GSP and the standardized GSP, respectively, between 2022 and 2023.

Background: Digital technologies offer the potential for low-cost, scalable delivery of interventions to promote smoking cessation.
Objective: We aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the offer of Smoke Free-an evidence-informed, widely used app-for smoking cessation versus no support.
Methods: In this 2-arm randomized controlled trial, 3143 motivated adult smokers were recruited online between August 2020 and April 2021 and randomized to receive an offer of the Smoke Free app plus follow-up (intervention arm) versus follow-up only (comparator arm).

Background: Hospitalization provides a key opportunity to address tobacco use. Few studies have examined cessation treatment in hospitals in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC). We aimed to measure tobacco abstinence among individuals discharged from a Mumbai hospital after the implementation of cessation counseling compared to abstinence among those discharged pre-implementation.

Background: Alcohol use disorder, unemployment, and risk of homelessness are linked and often co-occurring, but most interventions do not address both alcohol use disorder and unemployment. The Abstinence-Contingent Wage Supplement (ACWS) model of the Therapeutic Workplace offers participants stipends or wage supplements contingent on both their abstaining from alcohol and engaging with an employment specialist or working in a community job. Wearable biosensors continuously tracked alcohol use.

Prior research supported a behavioral choice analysis of the role of life events in posttreatment drinking among abstinence-seeking inpatients with alcohol use disorder (AUD). This study investigated the generality of those relationships among persons attempting "natural" recovery involving moderation drinking. We had two hypotheses: (1) The likelihood of drinking after an event would be related to the degree of alcohol-related disruption in the life-health area of the event.
