The patient was a 58-year-old male with a five-month history of tingling in his right shoulder region, radicular pain in his right arm, and increased pain on the right chest wall that worsened with lying supine down. The patient was diagnosed with a right-sided hemorrhagic synovial cyst at the C7-T1 level.

Lactic acid (LA) is an essential glycolytic metabolite and energy source in the body, which is present in high levels in the synovial fluid of patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and is a reliable indicator for identifying inflammatory arthritis. LA not only acts as an inflammatory amplifier in RA, recent studies have found that novel posttranslational modification (PTM) lactylation mediated by LA may also play a key role in RA. Single-cell sequencing showed that the RA lactylation score of patients with RA was significantly increased, and core lactylation-promoting genes, including NDUFB3, NGLY1, and other genes, were found to be potential biomarkers of RA.

Aseptic loosening (AL) of artificial hip joints is the most common complication following hip replacement surgery. A total of eight patients diagnosed with AL following total hip arthroplasty (THA) undergoing total hip replacement and eight control patients diagnosed with avascular necrosis of femoral head (ANFH) or femoral neck fracture undergoing THA were enrolled. The samples of the AL group were from synovial tissue surrounding the lining/head/neck of the prosthesis, and the samples of the control group were from the synovium in the joint cavity.
