The novel water-dispersible nanoparticles from the double hydrophilic poly(acrylic acid)-b-poly(ethylene oxide)-b-poly(acrylic acid) (PAA-b-PEO-b-PAA) triblock copolymer and oppositely charged surfactant dodecyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (DTAB) were prepared by mixing the individual aqueous solutions. The structure of the nanoparticles was investigated as a function of the degree of neutralization (DN) by turbidimetry, dynamic light scattering (DSL), zeta-potential measurement, and atomic force microscope (AFM). The neutralization of the anionic PAA blocks with cationic DTAB accompanied with the hydrophobic interaction of alkyl tails of DTAB led to formation of core-shell nanoparticles with the core of the DTAB neutralized PAA blocks and the shell of the looped PEO blocks. The water-dispersible nanoparticles with negative zeta-potential were obtained over the DN range from 0.4 to 2.0 and their sizes depended on the DN. The looped PEO blocks hindered the further neutralization of the PAA blocks with cationic DTAB, resulting in existence of some negative charged PAA-b-PEO-b-PAA backbones even when DN > 1.0. The spherical and ellipsoidal nature of these nanoparticles was observed with AFM.

The endosomal escape of lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) is crucial for efficient mRNA-based therapeutics. Here, we present a cationic polymeric micelle (cPM) as a safe and potent co-delivery system with enhanced endosomal escape capabilities. We synthesized a cationic and ampholytic di-block copolymer, poly (poly (ethylene glycol) methacrylate--hexyl methacrylate)--poly(butyl methacrylate--dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate--propyl acrylate) (p(PEGMA--HMA)--p(BMA--DMAEMA--PAA)), via reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer polymerization.

Recently, transparent wood (TW) has been considered for many energy-efficient building products, such as windows and decorations. However, the existing TW still faces issues with size and thickness, as well as problems with functional fillers affecting the optical and mechanical properties of TW, which limits its wide application in the window products. In this study, a wood composite material (WCM) with good optical, mechanical, and thermal insulation and UV-shielding properties was prepared by using delignified wood (DW), methyl methacrylate (MMA), and 4-vinylphenylboric acid (VPBA).

Polymers and dendrimers are macromolecules, possessing unique and intriguing characteristics, that are widely applied in self-assembled functional materials, green catalysis, drug delivery and sensing devices. Traditional approaches for the structural characterization of polymers and dendrimers involve DLS, GPC, NMR, IR and TG, which provide their physiochemical features and ensemble information, whereas their unimolecular conformation and dispersion also are key features allowing to understand their transporting profile in confined ionic nanochannels. This work demonstrates the nanopore approach for the determination of charged homopolymers, neutral block copolymer and dendrimers under distinct bias potentials and pH conditions.

The article is devoted to the creation of enzymatic nanoreactors based on polystyrene-block-poly(acrylic acid) (PS-b-PAA) copolymers containing bioscavengers capable of neutralizing toxic esters both in the body and in the environment. Block copolymers of different amphiphilicity, hydrophilicity and molecular weights were synthesized and characterized using gel permeation chromatography, NMR and UV spectroscopy. Polymeric nanocontainers in the absence and presence of human butyrylcholinesterase were made by film hydration and characterized by dynamic light scattering and microscopy methods.

Hemostasis and subsequent anti-inflammatory measures are essential for wound healing in the human body following trauma or surgical procedures. Here, we try to use the dragging effect of a brush to prepare a Janus hydrogel with the least amount of bacteriostatic agent. The synthesized suspension of polyvinylbenzene-silica@quaternary ammonium salt (PDVB-SiO@NR) Janus particles (JNPs) was selected as ink and brush coated onto one side of a polyacrylic acid (PAA) hydrogel, resulting in Janus hydrogel (JNPs≌PAA).
