We investigated the effect of prolonged exposure (PE) on the heart rate (HR) and skin conductance response to trauma-related stimuli in acute stress disorder (ASD). Forty recent trauma victims with ASD were randomly assigned to three sessions of either PE or supportive counseling (SC) with both groups also receiving psychoeducation and progressive relaxation. Assessments were carried out before and after treatment and again after 3 months. Four years later, patients were asked by telephone whether they had received further treatment. There were no significant group differences with regard to symptomatic improvement at the end of treatment. Both groups showed initial cardiac acceleration to trauma-related pictures. After treatment the PE group showed attenuation of the HR response and a reduction in spontaneous fluctuations (SF) whereas the SC group showed a decelerative (orienting) response and a marginal increase in SF. Following SC, 43% received further treatment compared to 9% after PE.

Cota is a lipidated dual GLP-1 and Glucagon receptor agonist that was investigated for the treatment of various metabolic diseases, it is designed for once daily subcutaneous administration. Invasive daily injections often result in poor patient compliance with chronic disease, and here, we demonstrate an innovative strategy of encapsulating reversible cota self-assembled fibers within an in-situ forming depot of low molecular weight poly(lactic-co-glycolic) acid (LWPLGA) for sustained delivery GLP-1 and Glucagon receptor agonist with controlled burst release. This could be a suitable alternative to other sustained delivery strategies for fibrillating peptides.

A series of new (donor)₂-donor-π-acceptor (D2-D-π-A) and (acceptor)₂-donor-π-acceptor (A2-D-π-A) organic photosensitizers based on the framework of (Z)-2-cyano-3-(5-(4-(diphenylamino)phenyl)thiophen-2-yl)acrylic acid have been synthesized and characterized. By incorporating groups with different electron-donating or withdrawing abilities, such as dibenzothiophene (DBT), dibenzofuran (DBF), and triazine (TA), into the triphenylamine segment, their photophysical properties have been regulated. Theoretical calculations were used to explore how various donor-acceptor combinations influence their hydrogen production performance.

Background: The therapeutic armamentarium for heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) remains notably constrained. A factor contributing to this problem could be the scarcity of in vitro models for HFpEF, which hinders progress in developing new therapeutic strategies. Here, we aimed at developing a novel, comorbidity-inspired, human, in vitro model for HFpEF.

Background: Secondary acute lymphoblastic leukemia (sALL) is rare in patients diagnosed with antecedent multiple myeloma (MM). This study aimed to elucidate the clinical features and outcomes of patients with sALL after MM.
Methods: We conducted this population-based study using the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database and retrospectively reviewed patients with sALL following MM treatment at our institution.
