It was studied the effect of the content of biodegradable organic carbon (BDOC) after the processes of aeration and ozonation of the fulvic acid (FA) solutions on the efficiency of its adsorption and biofiltration. It was found that the change of free energy of adsorption of the FA oxidation products correlated with the part of biodegradable organic carbon in total organic carbon content. Predicting the effectiveness of NOM solutions ozonation before filtration through BAC is more appropriate by determining the value of the free adsorption energy. It was established that ozonation of FA solutions with high initial BDOC content by ozone doses that are economically and technologically acceptable, leads to a decrease in the BDOC value. Ozonation of FA solutions leads to equalization of the adsorption ability of FA fractions and increases the adsorption energy of FA in most investigated systems with a high initial BDOC content.

Photocatalytic technology for removing organic dye pollutants has gained considerable attention because of its ability to harness abundant solar energy without requiring additional chemical reagents. In this context, YF spheres doped with Yb, Er, Tm (YF) are synthesized using a hydrothermal method and are subsequently coated with a layer of graphitic carbon nitride (g-CN) with Au nanoparticles (NPs) adsorbed onto the surface to create a core-shell structure, designated as YF: Yb, Er, Tm@CN-Au (abbreviated as YF@CN-Au). The core-shell composites demonstrate remarkable stability, broadband absorption, and exceptional photocatalytic activity across the ultraviolet (UV) to near-infrared (NIR) spectral range.

Assessing soil quality is imperative to diagnose soil functioning and recognize inappropriate soil managements. However, the absence of defined indicators and their scoring methods and lack of universally accepted soil quality indexing frameworks complicate soil quality assessment, given soil systems complexity and diversity caused by variation in soil formation factors. This study was aimed to assess soil quality of three land use managements (CL, cropland; GR, grassland; SL, shrubland) in Northern Ethiopia, using two data sets (Total data set (TDS) and minimum data set (MDS)), linear and non-linear indicator transformation techniques and three indexing scenarios (Additive (SQI), nemoro (SQI) and weighted additive (SQI)).

Organic contaminants from wastewater toxicity to the environment has increased during the last few decades and, therefore, there is an urgent need to decontaminate wastewater prior to disposal. This study aimed to create a high surface area catalytic activated carbon (AC) under same carbonization conditions for phenol and methylene blue (organic wastewater) decontamination. husk (MH), sesame husk (SH), and baobab husk (BH) were used to prepare activated carbon for the removal of methylene blue (MB) and phenol (Ph).

Introduction: Functional traits of desert plants exhibit remarkable responsiveness, adaptability and plasticity to environmental heterogeneity.
Methods: In this study, we measured six crucial plant functional traits (leaf carbon, leaf nitrogen, leaf phosphorus, leaf thickness, chlorophyll concentration, and plant height) and employed exemplar analysis to elucidate the effects of soil environmental heterogeneity on intraspecific traits variation in the high-moisture-salinity and low-moisture-salinity habitats of the Ebinur LakeWetland National Nature Reserve.
Results: The results showed that (1) The soil moisture and electrical conductivity heterogeneity showed significant differences between the two moisture-salinity habitats.

Total antioxidant capacity (TAC) is an important indicator for assessing the merit of natural plants and foods. Herein, a visual TAC assay is developed based on the oxidase-like activity of nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes loaded with Fe nanoparticles (FeNPs@NCNT), which is prepared via high-temperature pyrolysis of metal-organic framework precursors and can catalyze the oxidation of colorless -phenylenediamine (OPD) to colored 2,3-diaminophenazine (DAP). The addition of antioxidants (e.
