The study was designed to appraise the effects of early antibiotic administration on reproductive tract infections and fetal membrane cell scorching in instances of premature rupture of membranes (PROM). A total of 107 pregnant women diagnosed with PROM between July 2020 and June 2022 were randomly assigned to two groups: the Intervention (n=54), where ampicillin were administered within 24 hours of PROM onset, and the control group (n=53), where ampicillin were given 24-48 hours after PROM. Maternal and neonatal outcomes, incidence of reproductive tract infections, and fetal membrane cell scorching indicators (Caspase-1, Caspase -3, Caspase-9 and IL-β) were compared.

The high genetic variability of HIV-1 and the emergence of transmitted drug resistance (TDR) can impact treatment efficacy. In this study, we investigated the prevalent HIV-1 genotypes and drug-resistance-associated mutations in drug-naïve HIV-1 individuals in Cabo Verde. The study, conducted between 2018 and 2019, included drug-naïve HIV-1 individuals from the São Vicente, Boa Vista, Fogo, and Santiago islands.

Among the physical decontamination methods, treatment with ultraviolet (UV) radiation is a suitable means of preventing viral infections. Mercury vapor lamps (254 nm) used for room decontamination are potentially damaging to human skin (radiation) and harmful to the environment (mercury). Therefore, other UV-C wavelengths (100-280 nm) may be effective for virus inactivation on skin without damaging it, e.

Introduction: The development of chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a common and significant complication, contributing to morbidity after liver transplantation (LT). Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection is common in the overall population, and relevant reinfection after LT may occur. CMV-associated kidney damage has been discussed, but the clinical significance on CKD development after LT remains unclear.
