We utilize a sliced slab waveguide structure to produce a gain waveguide array. With this array, an in-phase locked single-mode frequency output with a single-peak intensity distribution without sidelobes and a highly spatially suppressed far-field distribution has been obtained.

Prominent platforms based on thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN) are superior integrated-photonics platforms for efficient optical parametric amplification (OPA), however, previously few studies have been systematically reported the gain-boosting performance of TFLN waveguides compared to bulk LN waveguides. Here, we optimize two TFLN waveguides with dispersion engineering for high-efficiency and ultra-broadband gain of OPA, then report comparative results about the efficient ultra-broadband OPA of TFLN waveguides in the case of low loss, optimized waveguide length and pump power. Note that the efficient ultra-broadband OPA of TFLN waveguides is represented by the peak gain (71.

A novel, to the best of our knowledge, gain equalization scheme for synergistic reconfiguration of refractive index and concentration doping is adopted to equalize the modal gains based on the dual-layer ring core structure. NaYF:5%Gd,20%Yb,2%Er@NaYF nanoparticles are synthesized by annealing treatment to improve the emission spectral properties and the concentration doped in a host core material.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA novel, to the best of our knowledge, type of semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) with improved energy efficiency is presented conceptually and simulated numerically, using parameters based on a well-established heterogeneous photonic integration platform. The SOA has a confinement factor that can be varied by a waveguide design only, and thus the gain, loss, and saturation can be tailored along the light propagation direction. By using a tapered waveguide, the SOA can be designed for high gain at the input and high saturation at the output.

The holographic technique is one of the simplest methods for designing antennas based on metasurface. This paper presents a spoof surface plasmon polariton (SSPP) leaky-wave antenna (LWA) based on the concept of impedance modulated metasurfaces by the anisotropic holographic technique. Instead of parasitic elements, anisotropic SSPP elements are exploited to achieve radiation with circular polarization.
