The HIV integrase inhibitor, dolutegravir (DTG), in the absence of eliciting integrase (int) resistance, has been reported to select mutations in the virus 3'-polypurine tract (3'-PPT) adjacent to the 3'-LTR U3. An analog of DTG, cabotegravir (CAB), has a high genetic barrier to drug resistance and is used in formulations for treatment and long-acting pre-exposure prophylaxis. We examined whether mutations observed for DTG would emerge in vitro with CAB.

Background: Coinfection with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) can cause more rapid progression to cirrhosis than HCV-monoinfection. In this study, incident HCV case (IHCV)s were investigated in a HIV clinic in Korea.
Materials And Methods: A retrospective HIV cohort was constructed who visited National Medical Center in Korea from 2013 to 2022 and performed ≥ 1 anti-HCV antibody tests (anti-HCV) during the study period.

Background: This study examined the relationship between neurofilament light chain (NfL) and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and cognition in people living with HIV (PLWH) at baseline and over time.
Methods: Plasma and clinical data were available from PLWH aged ≥45 years with HIV RNA <200 copies/mL enrolled in the AIDS Clinical Trials Group HAILO cohort study. We measured plasma NfL and GFAP using a single molecule array platform.

Nucleic acid testing (NAT) has revolutionized diagnostics by providing precise, rapid, and scalable detection methods for diverse biological samples. These recent advancements satisfy the increasing demand for on-site diagnostics, yet sample preparation remains a significant bottleneck for achieving highly sensitive diagnostic assays. There is an unmet need for compatible, efficient, and lab-free sample preparation for point-of-care NAT.

Introduction: Very little is known about the role of macrophages as immune mediators during natural HIV infection. Humanized mice are an extremely valuable model for studying HIV pathogenesis. However, the presence of murine mononuclear phagocytes in these models represents a significant limitation for studying their human counterpart.
